Bat Mdl B chambering specs

Getting a 2B thread..

Mike:

Look in the MACHINIST HANDBOOK under threading. Find the size and pitch. There is a listing for the major and minor OD and ID. If you want to be real safe cut your tenon .001 or .0005 larger and begin your single point thread cutting. You will file off the roots so that .001 to .0005 will disapear quickly. when you get close to the indicated thread depth. Try fitting your action and only take .001 per pass until you get a 2B fit. I do it every day.
Good Luck

Headspace will be the measurement from the bolt face to the receiver face. Just make sure the bolt lugs are fully seated in the receiver when taking this measurement with a depth mic. The stiller SS Viper headspace is shown as 1.115" Strip the bolt of its firing pin assembly prior to taking these measurements. The cone is probably 29 degrees, same as the SS Viper.

I don't recall the h/s for sure but think my 3 lugs are 1.074". I'll have to go to the shop to look at my notes. I expect the B will be the same..
The cone angle is going to be 25' for all BATS that I've seen..

Pat has it right. BAT's are 25 degree cones, and that tennon length sounds right. I don't have my records in front of me, but BAT's and Vipers are shorter than Stolle tennons.

The threads are nominally the same, but there can be some subtle differences.

Once one barrel is done right, the dimensions won't change.
