Barrel thread for a Sako L461 action

From post 27 of this thread.

According to my Sako Finland info/schematics, The L461 and A1 use: W22x1/16", (guessing W22 is meant to be M22 but if it is I wonder why they have "W" referenced at two different locations....) Pitch 1"/16, Pitch Dia. 20.946 +0.10, Thread angle 55 degrees (not 60 degree). S491, M591 and L691 are identified in schematic as: 1"-16UN Form Special B; noting the words "Form Special B (also applied to the Sako L61R, AIII , AIV, and AV)" .

A little off topic from this thread, but have any of you priced Vaughn's book "Rifle Accuracy Facts"? Amazon has it listed for $250. I guess that's the first book that I've ever bought that has gone up in value. Abe Books has it listed as starting at $371.76 and going up in price from there.

I saw one at a auction last summer with several other books I wanted. I bought every box of books that had at least one I wanted including the one with Vaugns book in it but Vaugns book was missing when I got it. I don't know if someone stole it or just switched it into another box of books that I didn't bid on. I almost had one for $8.00.

Starrett pitch gauge

I have been a journeyman Tool & Diemaker since 1978. Their is no ISO 1.6mm thread pitch (1.5mm then 1.75mm), 1.6mm is not on a metric pitch gauge and is not on metric engine lathe (non-CNC). I suspect someone tried to measure a 16tpi thread with a caliper and declared it to be 1.6mm, because the tenon diameter is metric (16TPI is about 1.588mm in pitch). I also corresponded with the head gunsmith at the former MT guns, who specialized in re-barreling Tikka M-595 and 695's and he assured me that they are 16TPI, not a 1.6mm pitch. Hope this sheds some light, Gort

Sorry but my Starrett pitch gauge shows on the coarse side 1.00-1.10-1.20-1.25-1.30-1.40-1.50-1.60-1.70-1.75-1.80-1.90-2.00-2.50
