Are barrels unidirectional? Which end should we chamber?

Due to my allergies, I ordered a hairless barrel from Krieger. No extra charge.

barrel grain

Jackie gave us a clue that the Krieger barrel was chambered in the direction of the hook cutter i.e. with the grain. My dad once told me about a book called, "The Cat Scratched", by Claud Ball. Probably had no hair but got a hell of a scratching.

Strange, they told me a few years ago that they strived to insure that the barrels were dead straight. They did say, however, if by chance there was a slight difference, it would always be toward the muzzle end.

If they do put a choke in, where is it. For instance, on my HV, I cut about 6 inches from the muzzle end of a regular HV blank in order to come up with 22 1/2 inches.

Think there is any left there??.........jackie
