ar15 vertical string

I will also load up some rounds with the win 748 since I have it on hand. The next time I can escape from work I will see if I can find some of the SMK bullets

I don't know what your temperatures are where you live, but W748 seems to come into it's own at about 70 deg F or above.

For what it's worth: The Sierra manual for AR-15 (20" 1:7) lists a range of 23.3 to 26.1 grs for Varget, with 25.3 grs. being their accuracy load. My best load to date for the 69 gr MK is with H322 in my 1:9 26" bolt gun at around 2900 fps. Varget and TAC come close.

Good luck :)

A couple of 'known-good' loads for .223 Rem are just about any half-decent (or better) 50-55gr bullet ahead of either 25.0-25.5gr H335 or 26.5-26.8gr Win748. If you can find a decent factory match bullet like the 52gr SMK and put it on top of either load it should shoot sub moa easily.

The vertical stringing (1/2 moa wide by 1.5 moa tall) kind of makes me wonder if its the load or something else, though - if not the rest, then some loose part somewhere.

HTH,

Monte
