My thoughts
Its an undeniable fact, that Any organization is only as strong as its decision makers. That’s true, from the POTUS right on down to the facilities management department (groundskeepers) at the local Golf Club.
All it takes is one bad management decision to cripple an organization. I’ve witnessed it happen, on a number of occasions, at my previous place of employment.
The driving force behind a sport like Benchrest, are its members and morale. Since I’ve been here, I’ve made friendships that hopefully will last for whats left of my life time. I have yet to meet a competitor that doesn’t understand the primary focus of the organization. “Pursuit of Extreme accuracy”. Its a passion that keeps many of us coming back year after year. My hats off to the people responsible for the evolution of the Sport. The extreme accuracy part has managed to evade me, but I have had a lot of fun in pursuit of that goal.
I’ve been coming back for the last 18 years. This is the first time i’ve seen members, come out in defense of a another member who got banned for life from his favorite Sport. They all want to know WHY. What conduct could justify such harsh punishment? Were other options considered?, All legitimate questions. The answers to these question have been, somewhat guarded and slow in developing, in my opinion.
I dont know all the insider details of this incident. Its really not that important to me. What’s important is ,what has been learned from this incident and what is being done to prevent it from happening again.? Answer that question and we can hopefully move past this bump in the road.
Just so you know,I’m a real conservative.
