Although I have experience with N133 and H322 in the 6PPC I have no experience with 8208. My brother shot 8208 in his 6PPC all the time and won a good quantity of wood with it. My question is does anyone have any experience shooting 8208 in anything other than the 6PPC, I.E. .222, .223, etc.....It is looking like my shipping this stuff is going to become a nightmare so if it will shoot in say a .223 I can most likely get it sold locally. There is a ton of .223 gas gun shooters out there that would probably be interested.

Probably yes...depends on the lot, but most lots seem to do well in 223,
and 308.
Shipping should not be an issue unless you are distant to a shipping hub.

I have driven as much as 200 miles one way to buy 8208...well vintage 8208,
not current pull down.

Most of the Powder marked "8208" is pulled down powder from vietnam era 223. I have been told (unconfirmed) that it is from 223 tracer ammo. Benchrest shooters love the stuff. There are many different lots, the most famous is what is caller "T" powder from Thundirbird Cartrige in Arizona. Walt Berger tested various lots of powder (many, many years ago) and the best stuff was sold as "T 32". Walt still shoots it. Just last week he was talking to several guys at the Cactus and said that his favorite load was 28.2 of T. About 10 years ago I purchased 100 lb of the 144 lot of 8208. At that time I believe I paid about 2k for it. According to Walt, lot 144 was the "runner up" to the lot that became "T". If you can find any "T" today, you could pay $250 a jug for the stuff. There are several lots of surplus 8208 out there -188, 167, 049, 12020, and more. Many guys blend the stuff (not recommended) to get the burning rate that they want. One major consideration is the fact that the 8208 surplus (pulled) powder is from the 1970's. You have no idea of how it has been stored. A friend lost a house due to surplus powder that went bad. Also remember that you cant ship powder yourself. Hazmat fees apply the same as other powder and primers. All that being said, there are other powders that work well in small cases. LT 30, LT 32, Vv 133 and others. Those are easy to get and they are new - you dont have to worry about how they have been stored for the last 45 years, To answervyour original questions 8208 is 223 powder!

Check Hogdons on line load data. There is some data for the new 8208 XBR. Works well in my Savage 12BVSS.

I. Have some of lot 1 IMR8208XBR, lot 3 XBR, lot 45710 8208' lot 18165, 18166, 18167, lot 12020, lot 12220, lot WCC6168 , some original T32, some, GI322, some 068A, and a few others. NONE chrono the same. As in ANY new jug of any brand of powder, build up gradually.....THEY AIN'T the same.

Does anybody remember the fellow that wrote years ago that his son was burning T32 on a float thing in the swimming pool? I don't remember any more except that the fellow was crying mad.

Yes, it was Lou Murdica's son. He found that the T-32 would float in the pool and when ignited put on a great show. :eek: James

Common sense that reloaders have known for years . Nothing better than a factory reload sight to find a starting load. If it's on the internet it must be true.

If your looking to sell any of that 8208 and not worry about delivery/packing I would be willing to meet you anywhere in Idaho! I live in Nampa, ID. I ran out and just tried to buy a jug from a guy at the Cactus in Phoenix but he left it at home, so no joy! Some of the lots of 8208 I blend with H-322 and it shoots really well! As for other calibers should work well in small caliber cases.
