700 Factory Trigger W/Safety Onto 722 Receiver

I need to put a cheap trigger with a safety on my early 40X rimfire and I would like to use a factory 700 trigger. Can I bend/form the safety lever to clear the tang or is the steel hardened and brittle and can't be cold formed ? I'm not interesting in modifying the tang on this 1955 commercial action.

Thanks

I broke one trying to bend it. The next one I just put the receiver in the mill & made the clearance. The easiest way is to use an old trigger from a 722.

FWIW in the past, I have found the old 722 triggers easier to tune to a lighter pull than the 700 design that immediately followed it.

I thought the 2 piece sears were more prone to problems than the one piece sear. Is this just an urban legend ? I have a couple of different valve core springs to experiment with.

The one pc 700 sear will fit in the 721-722 housing. The 721-722 with one pc sear can also be converted
to 2 oz with the addition of third lever
