What velocites are you getting with your 6.5x47 with 140s? I assume everyone is running a bushed firing pin and 30"+ barrel to get the most out of them?

6.5x47

You can get about 2775 to a little over 2800, with reloader 15,The barrel dose not have to be 30 inches to get this velocity.

Any body using Reloader 17? How does it compare with RL 15 accuracy and velosity?

2850 FPS with 140g Berger VLD. 25" Krieger barrel. N-150 powder and Federal primers. This is with a minimum dimensioned chamber and freebore diameter and length as specified by Hugh Henriksen for the above bullet.

The firing pin assembly in the above rifle is a Remington specification original weight spring and firing pin mass, .075" diameter at the tip.

A bushed firing pin is not necessary if the firing pin mass, shape, and spring weight is correct. Typically a bushed firing pin is undesirable, depending on how much it deviates from the above optimum parameters.

That's within approximately 100fps from a 6.5x284. To me that's very appealing. Small primer, lapua brass, small capacity with high velocity yields, is there a down side?
