47 Years and Counting

Congrats Jackie

I came to realize what a blessing it is to grow up in a great marriage. Most folks who do seem to enjoy the best life can offer. I wasn't able to do it so I admire those who have.

Congratulations Jackie I will be two up on you come October yet it does not seem that far back when I said I do.

Jackie,

Congratulations to you both on your anniversary.

My wife turned 64 this year and we will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary in July. I was an E-3, we were young and poor in 74, I splurge on our wedding - went to Reno to get married, and had dinner at Denny's. We were madly in love then, now we are older and still poor, feelings to each other hasn't changed. She said all through our marriage the thought of divorcing me never crossed her mind, she said, she does not have time nor patience to train another husband.

Has to have something to do with being in the "older generation"?? Wife (of 55 years) mentioned to a friend that "we grew up together". Never considered it but she was right !! We more of less think the same, like the same things and don't put any strange expectations on each other. My job is to take care of her. She has never had to open her own door when I'am around. Never gave it a second though, I just do it. That's my job and I do it well.

Too bad our kids don't think the same way and treat each other that way. Life would be SO MUCH BETTER but we can't live their lives for them. Maybe some day they'll learn?

Never considered doing it any other way. We just did it. 50+ years IS a lifetime and have loved every minute of it. Would I do it again? YOU BET, if she would have me. Congratulations to anybody that has that many years in. You did good.

Jackie I now feel the same way some of the good folks here make my 49 years seem miniscule in comparison to theirs. Back in 69 when I said I do I was pulling in 62.00 dollars a week and rent was 75.00 a month boy have those times changed.

Yes sir, but time flies right? Although I'm still young, I am trying to live a life that ill remember with my loved ones. I used to think that money is the most important thing in this world until I lost my grandpa. Now, I spend as much time as I can with my family, friends and my other half. Hope we all have a great and happy life! Sooner we will be the old ones haha.

One of the best things you can leave your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren is good memories.

Very inspiring when one says I do he also makes a commitment to both good times and bad. I think we have all been through both of those and for me quit was never an option. I have never quit on anything I have done in my life but strived to do just the opposite. There were times in all honesty that were pretty damned tough to say the least and will probably be more.

Grats to Marylyn for putting up with you 47 years!!!

I guess the first time I met you two was at a Nationals in Canastota New York. She drove the motorhome up all the way from Texas and you leisurely flew up.

You really miss them when they are here no more. Heartbreakingly I put my Patsy, my wife of 61 years away May 25,

Been looking at this for a bit, congratulations on the 47 years. Not meaning to out-do but on the 6th I will be counting 55 years with the same woman. People I used to work with called her St Mary 'cause when she dies she goes direct to heaven, she's already spent her time in hell.

Jerry,

I don't have the words.

Next year will be 20 for Sonja and I, and it just keeps getting better. I can't imagine life without her.

My condolences,
Justin
