Does anyone have any info on the 22 br. The cartridge is new to me and there is not alot of info on the web. I'm looking for powder, usual seating depths, and sizing tips. The reamer used is not a remington. I believe my gunsmith stated it is a norma/ lapua reamer. Any info will be appriciated. Thanks

Hi Eric, Go to 6mmBR.com then click on 6mmBR improved then click on 22BR info page. Should give you all the info you need to start. Don

Eric,

I don't have my load data with me here at the keyboard. However, I really like my 22BR. Mine is on a Savage action, it's a 26 inch barrel and if I remember correctly is a 1:14 twist. I shoot 50 grain bullets out of it at crazy speeds. It shoots great and doesn't heat up near as quickly as a 22-250 and has less felt recoil.

Amen to what both Don and Adrian said. My .22 BR has a 26" barrel with 1 in 12 twist and shoots 40 to 53 g bullets very well, and fast too. A .22 BR will use less powder, produce less recoil, and be more accurate than a .22-250.

A great round. I have a Bat built 22BR with 26 inch barrel. I get 3100 fps with a 75 grain VLD with 28 1/2 grains of Varget. Very accurate. You pretty much get 22-250 performance with less powder and better accuracy. Great Lapua brass with small primer. BTW, barrel is Kreiger 1 in 7.7.

yea i was looking for some loads that have been proven. So far I have been using benchmark, lapua brass, br4 primers and 52 gr knights. The rifle is a dougles 26 in. 14 twist on a ruger m77 mk II action and timny trigger. I've just broke in the barrel and fumbling with loads that are at best close to .250 but not wanting to close up. I know each rifle is different w/ loads but I'm looking for the usual seating depth and powder charge that works. I also am looking for a load using imr 8208. Hodgden has not posted it but I know some people have used it in 22 brs and 8208 and benchmark are very close in a 6 br.

Eric,

If you haven't been to this site is has some useful info:

Is your 22 BR a no turn neck (.253/.254)? Mine is a .254 and seams to love H4895. My rifle was built with a 1-12 twist so I could shoot Hornady's 53g V-Max (they recommend at least a 1-12). The 1-14 that you have might not stablize some of the heaver and longer bullets.

I don't know why Hodgden does not show load data for 8208, neither on line nor in their 2012 loading manual (magazine). They do have data for a 22-250, that is strange. You might want to try N135, I hear that a lot of people like that in the BR.

I really like my little .22BR. It has a 24" Hart Bbl, 1X12" twist, Jewell trigger, and is built on a trued Rem. 700 action. I've shot/tried a number of bullets but find Ralph Council's 62 Gr. ones with VV 240 and Rem 7-1/2 primers to give the best accuracy. No, it's not a BR rifle, nor is it well suited for distances "way out there". Anyway, I've been using it as my hunting rifle for the last two seasons. I know that some of you might think it inappropriate for hunting but I haven't had to shoot a whitetail the second time -- that 62 Gr bullet placed at the base of the ear has done the job every time -- they just drop, no tracking and no meat damage -- 8-9 bucks/does, total.

thanks everyone. I am going to use this rifle in our club's score shoot this year. I know its not a thirty but my funds are limited and this is my first built rifle. I'm behind the eight ball with a 22 but figure i can learn about precision reloading and have fun in the proccess. Thanks again y'all
