2016 IBS Score Nationals Pine Tree Rifle Club NY

Dick Grosbier

Club Coordinator
Hillary Martinez and Larry Feusse took the early lead at Johnstown NY yesterday narrowly edging out a group of 11 shooters with 20 or more X's. Hillary and Larry were in a dead heat tie with 23X (despite what the scoring software shows. New Shooter Josh Strum was right up in there as well with 23x but was in 3rd by Creedmore.

Full results as they become available can be found here. http://internationalbenchrest.com/results/score/_scoreindex.php

Correct me if I am wrong Dick, but in the case of a targets tie, you go back to the first X missed? How I remember this is we use to shoot #5 first, #4 second, because the time you got to #1 you were to have it figured out and shoot an X, in theory of course.

Bill
You are 100% correct. I am assuming, and I could very well be in error, that the results sent to me by John C. are just the raw scores.

2016 Score Nationals 100-200

Congratulations to Hillary Martinez VFS and Dean Breeden H for winning the Grand Aggs. at this years Nationals.

Regarding

the tie at 100 yds VFS, it was broken on the 3rd target as I recall as both had 5X on targets 1 and 2, both had 4X on target 3 so that was the one the ol Creedmore took over.

It was an absolutely great shoot, with decent wind conditions that were readable if you were careful. The range was in immaculate shape. The shoot staff, from registration, to line control to target crew did an outstanding job. Anyone who missed this shoot missed a great weekend at a very historic location for IBS.

If anyone is a history buff, John Del Savio has written a very good club history. Lots of old pics with Townsend Whelen, Warren Page, etc. Even has two shots of Elmer Keith. I asked John about that and the story behind his being there is interesting. Elmer was not a BR shooter. The book is $15 and a great add to anyone's shooting library.

Yes, thanks to the sponsors who were very generous with their contributions! Everyone won something of significance. I think there is a video being made, the club hired a private multi media company to do lots of stills, video and even used a high tech drone to get a birds eye view of the range, flag setups, etc. It should be interesting when available. PTRC, thanks!!

I want to thank PTRC for putting on such a great shoot! Facilities were great, well staffed with people who worked hard to run a good shoot, and good food too! Congrats to all winners, especially to Hillary and Dean for their commanding performances.

Also, a big thanks to all of the sponsors for the event!

I to would like to say thanks to the entire crew at PTRC. They put on one hell of an event. Pine Tree is without a doubt one of the best places to shoot on the East coast. I would also like to give a special thanks to Dean Breeden for letting me borrow one of his rifles for match 3 at 100 yards. My dedicated 100 yard rifle had issues right from the start and I was unable to shoot it. I would also like to thank Bob Brooks, Randy Jarvais and Orland Bunker for the use of their flags and probes. One last thing I would like to say congratulations to Robert Brooks, who took 6th at 100, 2nd at 200 and 2nd in the Grand Agg, and on top of it all he was 1 of the 2 people who won a gift certificate for a new NF Comp 42X scope! Not a bad weekend Brooksie! Also to the Rutland Street assassin Butch Randall for winning the 50/ 50 raffle not once, but 2 days in a row! (I'm still trying to figure out how he managed that one), and to Dean Breeden for 3 possible new world records and his faithful sidekick Hillary (Peter) Martinez for her 100 yard and Grand Agg wins. You Da Man Girl!

According

Then why do I have a picture of him at Johnstown. Was "NOT" his primary goal, but I think he did a bit.

The the club history, he was staying with a friend in Johnstown who said lets go to the big shoot at PTRC. He was on the east coast in conjunction with his effort to bring out the 44 mag. Maybe he shot maybe not. Was told he didn't. Prolly will not be known for sure?

No 2 Gun ?

I didn't see any results for a 2 gun match. Has the two gun gone by the way of the Passenger Pigeon? And congrats Hillary and Dean. Proud of you guys, me.

2 gun...

Hi Pete, how have you been?
The 2 gun was contested, and the results are included in the report on the IBS site. Initially the info shown was photos of the results posted at the range, but now there is a pretty nice report which includes the 2 gun results.

IBS Score 2 Gun

It has now been added to the main body of the report. Thank you Pete for pointing out I had forgotten it. Although as Dave pointed out it was included in Ken Benton's excellent writeup.
