1200yd shot, 300 RUM,

nice a shootin

shooting is alot like golf the ball don't always go where you want it to but when it does it sure feels good:Dbut if you really want to impress us next time lay the bottle down and pop one thru the top just kiddin:pwether that was the first shot or the tenth wether the barrel was cold or warm don't matter it was still a fine shot with a fine rifle and i think you should tell the misses that her fine dining table is now your new a shootin table:Dkeep up the good shoots

Heck,

I dont know but being that this is the "general discussion" area of this forum, it leads me to believe things other than competition shots are perfectly acceptable subject matter, I see nothing wrong with posting a shot here that he is proud of.

I have not even seen the video yet but some folks have more of a gag reflex than others and my gag reflex is not tripped by simply saying "nice shot". I am not inclined to call him a liar because I wasnt there either. Maybe if he said he did it with a pellet gun off hand out the window of a moving car, I would call him on it but he did take the time to post a pic of a rifle that at least looks like it might do the job but I guess some folks are sure that if they didnt see it, it didnt happen.

Dont Islamic radicals thing the same thing about the holocaust?

Mt300rum, nice shot.

mikecr wrote, Maybe I'm just a hard sale. But I'd be more impressed if he can carry his shooting system a couple miles from the truck, and setup & shoot 1moa to half that distance-without a bunch of sighters and preconditioning. You know, people do this. It's called hunting.

Personally, I am glad he used an inanimate target rather than big game. I mean, I am glad it was NOT hunting.

This is the new "rage" now, ultra long-range shots. I love this sort of activity -- but not on big game.

I saw an article recently where 50 BMG are not currently allowed in Colorado hunting because the ultra long shots taken by these shooters left either wounded elk, or carcasses that shooters were unable to find. Well, at half a mile, it is definitely possible that a kill might be hard to find.

I don't mean this to spoil the enjoyment of this amazing shot.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragment, i in no way meant to boast, and if it came across that way i appoligize, you can hear me on the video saying it was the longest shot ive ever takin, it was my new dream rifle that the lord blessed me with, and a new load that i developed the day before, i was out there to get data and shot 300 400 500 600 700 800 900 1000, and had 4 rounds left, so i figured i'd try the jug at 1200, i didn't even know the camera was on until the next day when my buddy called and said go look at you tube and search 1200 yd shot, i will admit i was a little proud of my longest shot ever, but in no way was i trying to imply that i'm some sort of wizard when it comes to long range shooting..

Okay so you're no wizard, BIG WHOOP...........

I ain't seen the shot either, I got two cans an' a string here. But, if you're such a HOT-SHOT, then PROVE it, buddy!! I wanna go over to my buddy's house and say, "Hey crank up you-tube, I wanna see this guy's next shot." When the screen comes up, I want to see you puttin' the last torque on your press, mounted on THAT table, pal, THEN....I'm impressed, got it???:D:D ROFLMFAO

And Al in Wa, (don't I go there for coffee...??) I made my apologies to TomD,

you prevert!! ;)

looks like someone got in to grampas cough medicine again..

Good shootin'

Some guys don't appreciate the fact that another shooter's rifle is capable of such long shots....100 grs of Retumbo in a 300 RUM ? Ouch even with a brake.....My 260 AI has gotten me into the 1000 yd club (several times) with p/dogs....but this is your thread......congrats.......

I know the rush of hitting a long range shot, hit a clay bird on the berm at Tom Sarver's 1000 range in 2003 with a 6MM REM AI 1/12 twist(not the right combo for that distance) with the help of a fellow shooter whose name I don't know, spotting for me. Seeing that bird bust (yes I was aiming at it :D) was quite a rush! Especially so for an old farm boy that used to crawl to within 40 yards or so of a groundhog for a good shot with a 22LR HP.

Keep working and improving!

Table no big deal, try drying out a carb for your race car in the wifey's oven, talk about hot, and I don't mean the stove:D

My only request is tell your buddy to leave off the "Up against the wall, MF! noise next time, I would like to here the shot report better.

Agreed, not my choice in music either, my father is a minister and i was alittle hesitant to let him watch it..

I just watched the 1200 yard shot video. When it ended a "Featured Video" pop-up appeared titled "Hotties Shooting Guns." Now there's a good video!!! But none of them are shooting long range.

Should make a decent F-Class rig provided your retinas are firmly attached.
Al,

From the NRA Highpower rulebook (which F-Class is a part of):

3.16.1 Compensators and Muzzle Brakes - The use of compensators or muzzle brakes is prohibited. (Emphasis mine.) An extension tube that has been installed on the muzzle of a rifle to extend the sight radius shall not be considered a “muzzle brake”. The extension tube must have an interior diameter of .5 inches or greater and may have 1/4” x 1” slots cut at 12 and 6 o’clock to remove cleaning patches. Threaded holes along the top of this tube for the installation of sight bases will be allowed.

(a) Sound suppressors are not authorized for use in high power competition.

MT300RUM,

My first discipline is British style match rifle. The rules are:
  • Standard .308 Winchester chambering (throat length optional)
  • Barrel max weight 2.5 kg
  • Trigger minimum weight 1.5 kg
  • Any sights
  • Any overall weight
  • Shot prone from the shoulder with the front hand optionally rested
  • 24" bullesye target
  • Distances 1000, 1100 & 1200 yards
This was my winning score in the 20 shot 1200 yard match last Saturday on the way to winning my state's championship. I loaded Whidden repointed & then meplatted molied 210 SMKs in front of a certain amount of VV N550 for a velocity of around 2740 fps.

It's only the fourth time, as far as we're aware that anybody has cleared ain a 20 shot match at 1200 yards in a state/provincial championship. I finnessed it next day by clearing at the same distance in the 15 shot match.
