Cecil Tucker has a new phone number

A while back I looked everywhere on the internet for Cecil Tucker's phone number and the one that came up did not work. Today I read a post on this site, by Gene Beggs that gave a number that works. It seems that he got rid of his old home phone in favor of a cell phone. Here is that number...

Help a friend select a benchrest action

A friend who is not on a budget is building a new rifle for benchrest and he is trying to decide what action. I told him that the Stiller 2500 would probably be what I would go with, but today he asked me about the Turbo and how they compare. I told him that I don't know, but that I would ask...

Source for risers for Davidson/Kelbly scope bases/rings?

In the past I have seen them advertised. They were used to raise a scope, going on the base, with the rings mounting on them. I know about tall rings but man need these for a particular application where I cannot go that way. Do any of you know where I can get a pair?

Has anyone looked through or shot one of the new 45 x 45 Sightrons?

I see that they are discounted to a grand at Optics Planet, and that there is a new FCH model. Specifically, how are the optics? I looked it up and it weighs 20.5 oz. and will focus down to 10 yards.

Just installed both models of Farley triggers

I have one each of the model with the safety, and the competition model that does not have one. They both are very well made, with great attention to detail and elegantly precise machining. The safety was the starting place for the design, and except for it being omitted in the competition model...

Is Ernie Bishop still a dealer for SEB rests?

I tried calling. The first time my message did not get a return call and the second time I was disconnected before I could leave a message. Anybody know anything? Is Mike Ratigan still a dealer? If he is I need a current number.

On 700s and similar...clearance between shroud bore and cocking piece cylinder?

When it comes to fine accuracy, I believe that striker assemblies are important, and that they function in a consistent manner and with the least possible vibration and drag. Toward that end, what do you think about the idea of creating more clearance between the larger bore (the one that houses...

    Bolt clearance question

Looking over an unmodified 700 SA the best estimate for bolt clearance is about .005 using the high precision Scotch tape method ;-) I have not decided if I am going to spend any money on this rifle or leave it alone but the thought occurred to me that before I did anything about the bolt's...

How to download your photos from Photobucket (get them back onto your computer)

Going through my recent emails I came across one from Photobucket. In it they said that I would have to upgrade my membership to be able to post pictures on third party web sites. Since I have moved on to another free image hosting service this was of no particular interest....but the...

    Picture hosting site tip

OK, I have decided to stop using Photo Bucket and since my ISP email is through Yahoo, I already had a Flickr account, with just a few pictures uploaded to it. After reviewing how it works, I decided that it would get the job done for posting on forum threads, but then there was the matter of...

    Resolution of chronographs?

Does anyone have any data as to the resolving power of ballistic chronographs? While I agree with the generalization that greater precision in weighing powder charges results in lower extreme spreads of velocity, some of the claims being made seem to ignore the differences in accuracy of the...

Most economical method to pack a rifle with a 3" forend for shipping ?

Yes, I am aware that UPS publishes its requirements. What I am looking for are tips that apply specifically to rifles with benchrest stocks, that generally do not fit inexpensive cases well. I presume that a case within a carton is the way to go. I found these cartons...
