    Rimfire Ammo

I bought this ammo because it was available and figured the published velocity was accurate. If I had known that it would shoot so fast, I wouldn't have bought it. Yes, I agree that my test samples are small. At $15.50 per box, I didn't want to blow limited amount of ammo that I had available...

    Rimfire Ammo

I ran samples from 4 lots of Eley Match through my Anshutz 1710 Competition. While the box advertised velocities between 1070 and 1082, they all ran around 1150 more or less, and extreme spread up to 44 fps. That is NOT consistent IMO and my groups reflected that. These velocities are...

    Vudoo Quality Control

I'm sure every manufacturer has a product that gets out the door that doesn't quite meet their quality or reputation. If so, contact Vudoo and they will promptly take care of it. They did for me. Their customer support is the best.

    Cleaning Rods

If you buy a Dewey coated 22 cal rod, plan on it being very tight in the bore of match barrels. In fact, the Dewey website recommends using the 20 cal rod for match guns like Anschutz, CZ etc. I measured my coated rod and it was .214 which is about .005 too much. I also have a Dewey...

Cleaning the rimfire....How much is enough ?

When I shot air rifle BR, I cleaned after every card. On patch wet with Ballistol and 4 dry. Then shoot at least 5 sighters to season the bore. I'm assuming rimfire requires the same.

    Tuners!!!!

You can carry this to extremes. What about adjusting your scope knobs or butt plate or whatever. Please don't be disruptive and make lots of movements and noise. And yes, you have to zone out and concentrate on your own shooting.

    Scope choice for .22 BR

I use a Sightron S3, 10-50X60 with fine cross hairs. If cost is a consideration, Mueller 8-32X44 target dot is a good alternative.

    .22 lr rim thickness

I used a rim thickness gage on some Aquila ammo. This stuff still shot lousy groups. If you start with quality ammo, the gage becomes superfluous.

    Scope manufacturers

swfa.com is a vendor for a vast array of riflescopes. Their website will list most manufacturers plus the technical specifications of each scope. Most importantly, if you click on a particular scope, a picture of the reticle will appear. For those looking for a quality entry level scope...

    eric johnson guns

I can attest to the fact that Eric Johnson was a barrel maker in Connecticut. I worked with his son Carl, who was a pretty good smallbore shooter in his own rite. Carl talked about his dad. Years after Eric passed, Carl said that there were a bunch of barrels rusting in Eric's garage, but I...

    A Question For The Experts...

I agree, AZ. Washing, sizing, and lubing pellets is not for me. I’ve experienced loss in accuracy in doing these things.

    Scoring Homologation

I've scored bullseye targets for 30 years. Our procedure was that if the scorer plugged a "squeeker", he would ask assistance of another scorer to see if they can come to an agreement. If not, then the match director made the ultimate decision. That usually satisfied everyone. Were there any...

    A Question For The Experts...

You have experienced some drastic changes in temperature and other atmospheric changes. Everything is moving including scope, action, barrel, stock, valve, lubricant viscosity, action lock time, scope dimensions, trigger finger dexterity, brain activity, and on and on. All these work as a...

    A Question For The Experts...

With change in air temperature, air density changes, humidity changes, and velocity probably changes too resulting in change in drag and who knows. Maybe the brilliance of the sun or lack thereof affects your POI too. Further, the temperature change will reduce the bore diameter and alter the...

Does anyone know of any postal matches being held? Don't like to travel very far, so a postal would be good just for fun.

    Polygon Barrels for LV?

Polygonal barrels excel at shooting heavier pellets at high velocities. I don't feel this would be appropriate for LV since you are limited to 12 fpe.
