    Shipping Firearms via FEDEX

A couple years ago I stopped in a post office in a small town near here because it was convenient that day. The woman behind the counter said: what is it? I replied that it was a rifle.... Her: the post office doesn't ship firearms. Me: yes, you do Her: no, we don't Me: I want to speak to...

    Shipping Firearms via FEDEX

Based on my experience, they require overnight air for handguns, but not for long guns. I've usually found the USPS to be a better choice for long guns and "firearm parts." Apparently you found yourself talking to an employee who didn't know what she was talking about.

    CED Chronograph Printer?

I've had the same problem....a Mac person, I also have a HP laptop running Windows 7. It turned out that my main CED unit was from 2007, and was incompatible with CED's current PC software. I returned the old unit and they sold me a up to date one for about $80. Whether you can make it worth...

Why I Shoot the 30-30 in Benchrest

Interesting...thanks for posting That was a very enjoyable read, especially for some one like me who has never heard of anyone shooting that caliber in benchrest. Could you post photos of your 30-30 bench rifle? Thank you! George

    New Shooter

I've only been at this for about six years, but here are a couple of thoughts: Go to a benchrest (or BENCHREST;) )match and see what shooters you might compete against are using. Pay attention to rifles, scopes, front rest and rear bags, etc.etc..... I'm most familiar with medium to longer...

    Reloading Techniques

What He Said^^^ I think Jaychris is right on target about the importance of consistency, and powder measurement precision in particular. My only difference would be that I find that there's a lot to recommend using neck sizing dies...in particular Wilson's products. JMHO George

Would Appreciate Input on 600 Yard Target

I shoot a monthly 600 yard match at a club I belong to here in N. Louisiana. For practical reasons, we shoot 3 rounds of 7, 7 & 6 shots for a total of 20 rounds for score. On the first two rounds, I had a 61 and a 59, not great but reason for hope. The third round of six shots you can see I...

I'd Appreciate Some Input on .223 Bullets for LR

I just bought a Savage .223 12 F/TR 1-7 twist, 30" barrel rifle..... Planning to shoot it at 600, and other 100-200-300 yard local matches, I'd really appreciate some input on bullet selection. I'm currently shooting a 6BR using 105 Berger VLDs, but am open to Hornady AMax or SMKs....or other...

    Hellp With Record Keeping?

I'm a long time hunter/shooter, and have been reloading since the mid-90's. The rifles range from 17 Ackley Hornet, .204, .223, 20 Vartarg, 17FB, .243....to my current primary focus: my Savage 6mmbr. I'm planning on participating in our range's 600 yard matches this year. One of my problems is...

Savage F versus Bench Rest Rifles?

I've decided to go with the 6mmbr for our clubs 600yd competition. Would the F class Savage be a good choice for shooting from the bench? It's a little heavier than the Savage model 12 Bench Rest..... Or is there a reason why the F is not a good option for this purpose? Thanks, George

New 600 Yard Shooter Needs Help

I'm an experienced rifle shooter, and currently handload for a diverse family of .17 and .20 caliber rifles. I'm interested in participating in our clubs fairly informal 600yd matches. I want to start with a "entry level" gun, probably a Savage model 12 of the benchrest or F class variety...
