Rimfire F Class at the Stl BR Club

I read this thread with interest. I'm too far from there to shoot the matches but have a question. Are all CZ 452s repeaters? I ask because when I checked into F class I was told that the matches are considered slow fire and must be shot loading one round at a time. Are there single shot...

    Scope help please

I didn't think this through very well. I was just thinking in the context of too heavy to lug around. We just shoot ARA so I forget about the weight rules. All my bench rifles are over 15 lbs so I would have to do some serious weight trimming to even make 13.5 lb class. Wayne

    Scope help please

Sorry Mike, I just couldn't resist! How can they possibly be too heavy? The gun is in a rest sitting on a bench. OK, I'll leave now. Wayne

    F class rimfire target scoring

Hi Landy; I've been up since 5:00 watching for her. I must have blinked and missed her. The a33 targets I just received from american target just have a 10 ring with the numbers below that blacked out. They are there but you can barely see them. I received an email from a guy that said they are...

    F class rimfire target scoring

When shooting 50 yard rimfire f class on the A51 target is it scored like the 100 yard A33 target? The shot is either a 10 or a 0 or is it scored a 9 or 8 or whatever? I didn't know where to look in the rules for an answer. Wayne

Where do all the old bench guns go?

This may come off as sounding negative but here goes anyhow. Most of the time when a used bench gun comes up for sale the first thing you hear is - Try it first, then it should be a proven winner or don't consider it. This would be great if it would always happen. The truth is that a very small...

    40-X rimfire dimensions

Hi Paccini; That is the hole the ejector screw goes through. The one that is 3.200 from the front of the receiver. Wayne

    40-X rimfire dimensions

The 1.49 dimension is correct. the ejector screw is 10-32 and is 3.200 from the front of the receiver Wayne I didn't word this correctly. ejector is threaded 10-32. The hole in the receiver is .193 for clearance.

    40-X rimfire dimensions

I don't know how to explain this. Cut off the front of the bolt just behind the front lugs. Now extend the barrel tenon to fill that length. This is what the bolt looks like. Any questions just ask. Wayne

    40-X rimfire dimensions

Hi Paccini; The 40X & 700 rimfires are the same approximate length and the 40X & 700 center fires are approximately the same length. The rimfires are a little longer to take up the space for the removed front lug. I measured 2 rimfires and came up with 1.490 on one and 1.497 on the other. I...

    40-X rimfire dimensions

On a factory bolt I don't think it would be a problem. 4 of the last 6 PTG bolts I bought the handles came off in operation. I didn't try to get PTG to fix the problem, didn't want the hassle. I just drilled and tapped them and screwed them in place. Problem solved. Wayne

    40-X rimfire dimensions

Thanks, crb, I'm thinking it would be easier to cut a little off the bolt handle face to make the short bolt fit. That would probably be cheaper than removing the bolt handle and rebrazing it. Wayne

    40-X rimfire dimensions

    Okay; I set up in the lathe and measured 6 bolts. Looks like I need to find rifles with short bridges. Wayne #1 - 1.504 #2 - 1.508 #3 - 1.502 #4 - 1.497 #5 - 1.506 #6 - 1.498

    40-X rimfire dimensions

That is a hard one to measure because there is a space between where the lug ends and where the handle starts. The closest I can measure is 1.500" for a minimum. I don't know if .005 longer matters or not since it just has to clear the action. It is not used as a bearing surface. Wayne EDIT: I...

    40-X rimfire dimensions

Hi Paccini; I just got a news flash. It seems you are talking about the front of the action at the end of the barrel tenon. I was referring to the rear of the rear lug on a rimfire action. Looks like maybe I was talking when I should have been listening. Not the first time this has happened...

    40-X rimfire dimensions

This may sound like a silly question but by locking lug abutments do you mean the rear of the locking lug cutout? If that is what you mean it appears they are dead even in my rifle. If I am wrong could you explain locking lug abutments to me. I am trying to learn the correct terminology. Thanks...

What Makes a "Good" Action a Good Action?

Tim; I'm just guessing here but I am pretty sure we are going to find out that the barrels the swindelhursts were using were not the same size and weight as a remington heavy barrel profile. Am I right or wrong? Wayne

What Makes a "Good" Action a Good Action?

Just to stir the pot a little. A heavy barrel such as on the Remington 40Xs and 40XBs needs the tenon to be a half inch longer and 1 1/8 dia threads to support the barrel properly. I think that is why a lot of the standard barrels shoot just as well as the heavy barrels This is just my opinion...
