    Spider chuck

My vote is to use a very fine pitch thread. With a fine thread it is easier to make small adjustments because it takes more movement of the wrench to move the barrel small amounts. Also fine threads have a shallow ramp angle which keeps them from backing off so you don't need lock nuts.

    Threading Problems (cont)

It looks like the cross feed is set correctly, but the Aloris tool post isn't. If your using a standard style tool I think the tool post has to be turned so the front of it is parallel with the bed.

    Threading Problems (cont)

I agree. I brought it up earlier on this thread on some of the Chinese lathes you have to set the compound at 59.5 degrees to do threading. A simple test would be try a thread using the cross feed only and not moving the compound. If the thread looks OK the compound is set at the wrong angle.

    Ugly threads

If you have a Chinese lathe try setting the compound to 59.5 degrees, has to do with where they put the witness mark. That is what the first thread looked like on my Birmingham until I did some research.

Reaming out SR primers to LR?

I second James with the single point. It seems you could plunge cut with a flat bottom cutter.

how to Adjust the Forster FL sizing for more shoulder bump?

Boyd you make a good point. In my case it is a minimum chamber and I measure the case. You have to know where the case is tight in in the chamber not assume it is the shoulder. It your not measuring leave the die alone.

how to Adjust the Forster FL sizing for more shoulder bump?

I have taken material off the bottom of the die several times. My preferred method is paper on a flat surface. If you look at the bottom of your die you will find a nice radius so you can take off more that you need without changing the inside of the die.

    Procedure, technique, question/evaluation (comments welcome)

I don't know where Chad was placing the stylus on the pins. The reading will be the most accurate if it is placed as close to the action as posible.

    barrel thread question

On some import lathes the scale and the witness mark on the compound are placed so you have to use 59.5 or 60 degrees. If it is a new lathe a practice cut may be a good idea.

I have a Birmingham which looks like it was made at the same factory as the Grizzly and it works great.
