    Thread relief on tenon

There is no relief groove there! The small cut at shoulder was made by the turning tool and is no deeper than the root of the thread (.990 inch). Do the calculations as I have! Those threads were done manually-not by cnc. Not sure how you are "modeling" threads to make the statement you...

    Thread relief on tenon

Jerry No lockouts, no gauges-just watch the tool and shoulder. Been doing them this way since I converted to carbide thread tools about 16 years ago Jim

    Thread relief on tenon

Here is a poor picture (took with my phone)-but illustrates threading up to shoulder. Done on Victor 16x40 lathe at 320 rpm manually. I use a full form ISCAR Threading Tool

    What Am I Doing Wrong

Maybe a problem with how you are measuring. Are you measuring the neck at .260 with a bullet seated in case. Are you measuring with micrometer or caliper.

For the IBS is there a suitable alternative to Precision Shooting Magazine?

Like I said, if you would like to change put forth the proposal and get it voted on.

For the IBS is there a suitable alternative to Precision Shooting Magazine?

And as David Apple pointed out, A proposal for a By Law change can be made and submitted so that PS is no longer the "official" communication to the IBS membership. Also, IBS buys nothing in the magazine. IBS gets heavily discounted rate for subscription from PS and is GIVEN the pages it uses...

For the IBS is there a suitable alternative to Precision Shooting Magazine?

Gerry You are wrong. IBS is about 10% of the subscription base of PS. Mike Bryant makes a good point-if folks want to see BR related articles they need to write them or get someone to write them and send to Dave. Jim

    8208 Pulldown

Keith I am referring to all the lots of pulldown I have used. One thing I did notice is there were some very slow lots and some very fast lots. The ones that worked best were the ones that tuned 28.0 to 29.5 of powder Jim

    8208 Pulldown

Shinny Listen to Jeff-the stuff works. I have shot that powder extensively and some of the best aggs I ever had with it were in cool, damp weather! Jim

    Does my method look sound?

Both Dave Kiff and Dave Manson and I have talked their kits with the tapered bushings. The intent is to have a kit that keeps cost down and gives "close enough" accuracy for getting job done. I have never been in that "close enough" club. Dave Kiff also offers bushings at various sizes (I...

    6ppc reamer

When we started using .261 and .262 necks--that was a very light turn with the Sako brass we had at the time. Nothing magic about neck diameter.

    Does my method look sound?

Tapered bushings can cause you to be not actually on axis of the action. They would be ok if you were making contact with a round hole at each end. The feed ramp area at front will have bushing contacting against a non-perpendicular are-which can cause some error.

30BR barrel and brass life? What's your experience?

Lasts forever If you are losing brass at 20 firings-there is something wrong with brass or prep methods. I have some that has over 200 firings and has NEVER been annealed and still works great. I agree with Dick on his assessment of barrel life. Jim
