    Rifle positioning on front rest/bag

Looking with the internet it does look like DeHaas did write a book on the subject. And it does look like he was from Iowa. Prior to being able to search for this sort of information I was under the impression that Dean Miller had come up with the design. I first met Dean around 1981.

    Rifle positioning on front rest/bag

Yes, that's the one. I don't know if what remains of CD Miller guns is a machine shop these days. Dean passed away in 2007 and his son Cyle took over building the rifles. Cyle sold the rights to the falling block action to Dakota Arms. Dakota Arms discontinued the Miller rifle in 2019.

    Servicing a Farley Front Rest

Bill, thank you for describing the steps you took in disassembling your Farley. One thing I don't understand and I hope you, or someone, can help me. How do you remove the bag out of the rest? I've got a gen 1 Farley if that matters. Thanks -- Todd

How clean does the bore need to be?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tim. To clarify my understanding, ..... you clean every 10 to 20 rounds? I need to re-read what Tony says about cleaning in his book.

How clean does the bore need to be?

I've got another dumb newbie question for you seasoned short range benchrest folks. How clean does the barrel bore need to be to be competitive in the BR game? If some carbon is left on the lands and groves is that detrimental? If there is ANY carbon build up at the case neck to freebore...

    A couple load development questions

Thank you for sharing your experiences Tim. What size are your 5-shot groups when things are working right? The load I ended up with is consistently in the 1's with an occasional 0's when the wind isn't crazy. The load development was done in September and it's still providing 1's in the...

    A couple load development questions

My first attempt at developing a load for my short range benchrest rifle went well. I used Tony Boyer's approach as described in his book step by step using a 68 grain Hottenstein and N133 for the 6PPC. This was for a used barrel that came on the rifle I bought used. I had a barrel chambered...

    1911 Nut

I think the early 1911's with the lanyard loop on the magazine are quite interesting. At that time our soldiers were on horseback.

    1911 Nut

I'm a recovering 1911 addict Now that I got that out of the way. I had bought an original 1911, made in 1919, in 1999. Last year, as part of my treatment I chose 5 1911's to sell. One of those was the original. I had paid $700 for it in 1999 and sold it for $1400 in 2021. I might have...

    Neck turning difficulty

Thank you for sharing your findings. I was wondering if the Wilson case trimmer/reamer was THAT good. What sort of set up did you use to force the arbor past the restriction?

    Neck turning difficulty

That sounds like something that would work. I didn't realize anyone made something like that. Looks like they're called a "Carbide Cutting Pilot" at $54 each.
