    Corrosion

I’ve been tied up on other projections and so have not yet tried anything. My inclination is to try the boiling and then the ultrasonic cleaner. I’ve been meaning to order one anyway for cleaning cases and parts so this is as good a reason as any to do it. After that I guess I’ll try a selective...

    Corrosion

I have a replica of a Colt percussion revolver that looked clean when I acquired it. Everything turned nicely. By now you've guessed it wasn't properly cleaned and I was negligent in not tearing it down immediately. Apparently some humid weather combined with fowling on the interior to corrode...

    Custom Bench Priming tool

I got the RCBS tool shortly after they came out. My experience with it was that it was designed for someone with bear paws for hands. RCBS confirmed that the designer was a really big guy. Unless they have a redesigned “Gen 2”, I would not suggest buying one unless you have an opportunity to try...

    Small Primer Q

Small primers have thinner cups than large primers. People compensate by using smaller diameter firing pin tips with the hole being bushed accordingly (typically around 0.062”). Some action makers disagree with the practice. Does anyone know why the small primer cups are manufactured thinner...

    Flavio Fare' Triggers

Indeed it can be, but you have to have or make an assortment of trigger hangers.

    Flavio Fare' Triggers

Kelbly's made a trigger that was aimed at a more consistent release. As I recall it, the adjustment was somewhat limited. I have one in a box some place. There used to be some people who dis an instrumented study of the entire fire control system, trigger, striker, spring and all looking for...

    Flavio Fare' Triggers

I very much agree. Having had a few Anschutz rifles, adjusting the timing of the striker is simple and effective. It would be very interesting to see one of the action makers incorporate this capability.

    Outback Steakhouse Alert

Under the law that was modified in the last session of the Texas legislature, knowingly walking past a proper 30.06 or 30.07 sign with a licensed handgun either concealed or openly carried was reduced to a class C misdemeanor with a potential punishment of $200 which will not result in the loss...

    I Had LASIK Surgery Yesterday!!

Congratulations, Jackie! I had cataract surgery on my eyes (and then the laser procedure when what is left of the capsule the implant is placed in clouds up) and it is a remarkable experience to see well again. Colors are vibrant. There are individual leaves on trees. White, such as on a...

Nightforce Spoting Scope vs kowa 883

It has been some time and a few scope models ago since I had the opportunity to compare the fluorite lens Kowa to the non-flourite lens model side by side. The differences I was able to see were subtle and I don't think were necessarily particularly helpful for reading mirage and spotting on a...

BAT Machine roller cocking piece on Rem 700?

Does anyone know if the BAT roller cocking piece can be used or modified to be used on a Rem 700 action? Thanks

    Starating with 6mm XC

6 Dasher I am considering building an F-Class rifle that will be shot at 600 yds or less 90% of the time. I had been considering a 6 BR because of the lack of case forming & so on (I also have dies from another project, but that is not really any particular consideration). Is the Dasher that...

What kind of press are the f class guys using?

aliwa, I understand the difference, but the "bridge height" varies from one press to another and I have used thes shims to avoid changing the position of the lock ring on the sizing die. Most times the dies set the headspace correctly on my equipment with about 1/8 to 1/4 turn beyond contact...

What kind of press are the f class guys using?

I haven't checked recently to see if they are still a available, but there used to be a set of shims that would go between the top of the press and the lock ring of the sizing die. This system allows you to easily adjust things as necessary rather than shims that are glued in place.

    260 remington

The 260 Rem is throated to fit in a Rem 700 short action (2.800"+). Any of the heavier bullets are going to use up a lot of powder capacity as well as having the bullet bearing surface below the neck/shoulder juncture which can contribute to inconsistent neck tension. You can get it long...
