    Reticle change

I have a question about having a dot installed in a 36X Leupold scope. The present reticle is a standard fine competition crosshair. I would like to have an 1/8 min. dot@100 yds. installed. I have been looking at TK Lee to have this work done. Does anyone have any experience with this...

    6PPC/6mmBR

Thanks all for your replies. It seems that the concensus is, what is between the datum line and the bolt face does make all the difference. What Jerry Sharrett said about it being "magic" kind of rings true. I am inclined to agree with alinwa's take on the subject regarding the cottage...

    6PPC/6mmBR

First of all, I am not a Benchrest shooter but I have a question that perplexes me. There is no question that the 6PPC dominates Benchrest competition. My question is WHY? I shoot a 6mmBR that is very accurate but it is basically a hunting rifle. In comparing both cases(Lapua), there is...

    Power boost on a Leupold

Boosting Leupold Scopes Don't even ask Wally Seibert or Bill Ackerman to boost a variable Leupold scope, they don't do variables. The will only boost fixed power target scopes. Dick Thomas at Premier Reticles did boost variable Leupolds but then there was a falling out with Leupold and that...

    Shooters poll

Another concern I think your main concern won't be from a shot leaving the range but from the noise. If you have a "development" close by, I think sound will be your major problem with residents. The sound of gunfire will magnify all of their other concerns about the potential of danger.

"Smallest group size or your money back."

Ackley Improved Since the only part of the case to enter the collet is the case neck, yes, you can use a collet die on Ackley Improved cases. I use a .223 Lee collet die for my AI. I have found the the biggest problems folks have with the Lee collet die is not reading and/or understanding the...

    Home brewed barrel cleaner

Case lube I am with everyone else as far as Butch's is concerned. As for the case lube, I have been using GB wire pulling lube for case sizing. It works better than anything else I've tried. It drys to a white powder and is easily wiped off with a paper towel. At $5/quart at Lowe's it is...

    Vintage Remington 20X Target Scope

Coincidence It's kind of a coincidence that this thread showed back up. I was just following one of these scopes on Ebay, a 24X. It was just the scope and the rings, nothing else. It sold for $700. It appeared to be in excellent condition.

    221 Fireball

That may be the case, I don't know, I don't load for the .410. I do know that neither of these powders is too fast for the Fireball with a 40 gr. Vmax in a 22" sporter. Every coyote I've shot has been anchored with this load. Here is a good article by Charles Petty regarding his load work...

    221 Fireball

221 Fireball loads You didn't say how you were going to use your rifle and load but here are my suggestions. I use my rifle primarily while calling predators. My shots are not extreme, 200 yds max, usually inside 100 yds. My concerns were accuracy, hide damage, and a load that was relatively...

    Brunos Press

Common sense Once again Jackie a very reasonable and lucid common sense thought process. I guess that's why you're so successful, it's the keep it simple approach.

    Brunos Press

Question? Why would you guys in Benchrest need such obvious overkill with such a press? What Jackie said about the RCBS Partner press seemed reasonable to me for what you are doing. What am I missing?

    The Parallel Node, Calfee

Bill, What I don’t understand is why you definitely need a basically undefined weight forward of the muzzle? I read an article you wrote in PS magazine regarding this and you described the reason why some manufacturers used stock pressure on the barrel to aid accuracy. Couldn’t you use some...

    Kimber 1911 goldmatch ammo....??

That's funny I didn't hear anyone complain when this one came up in Benchrest. What I don't understand is when someone asks a question you don't like why even bother answering. Why go out of your way to show what kind of a person you really are...
