That's exactly why we used a (CNC qualified) rotary phase converter for our CNC back in Texas. Our simple rotary phase converters were not good enough, but they worked great for the manual machines. The one for the CNC was a 25HP with a ton of support electronics to clean things up a bit. Michael

Greg, This mainly has to do with bullet drop. A 6PPC at 100 yards will only see about .05" bullet drop if a bullet that is part of a group is running 40 fps slower. If you look at a 1000 yard rifle shooting a .700 BC bullet at 3000 fps, a bullet that is part of a group will hit about 6.5"...

I agree that small groups can be shot in short range BR with a large ES, just as long as the velocity swing isn't so wide that you get outside of your tune window. I have personally seen single digit ES with weighed charges from the 6PPC, but it is not common. I believe the 30BR would show...

Possibly Some shooters swear by N130 in the 30BR. Most consider H4198 and N130 to be the top two powders for the 30BR. Over time N130 lost popularity because it was no longer available in 8 # containers. Michael

Am I missing something? Jackie shot a 498-25X. At 200 yards he shot a 248-5X, so that means he should have shot a 250-20X at 100. I see scores all the way down to 250-19X at 100, but don't see his name. Michael

Weight You might even consider a custom base with Butch's top. I recently shot off of a Farley, and while I liked it pretty well, it wasn't anywhere near as heavy as my personal rest. Extra weight comes in handy if you ever plan to shoot a 30BR. Not as much of a concern for PPC only...
