Need shooting advice ! PLEASE !

I see nothing wrong with 1/2 minute 12 shot group at 300 yards. The flier is about 1.7" from the group center, or about a 2 mph change in the wind. That's all it takes at 300 yards to cause this. Do you have good flags? While Federal Gold MM is a quality product, there is no substitute for...

    Lederer Barrels

I finally got the chance to chamber up a LV and HV Lederer barrels for my 30-30 BR rifles. I was amazed by the barrel finish and by the concentricity of the lands and grooves. After a short break in period the LV turned in a nice group in the .150" range. I was using a known good shooting...

    rotary phase converter VS VFD

That's exactly why we used a (CNC qualified) rotary phase converter for our CNC back in Texas. Our simple rotary phase converters were not good enough, but they worked great for the manual machines. The one for the CNC was a 25HP with a ton of support electronics to clean things up a bit. rotary phase converter VS VFD

I used my homemade rotary phase converters for many years. Just threw a lever an they fired right up. Never had a special way to get them up to speed, other than capacitors. Michael

    rotary phase converter VS VFD

A VFD should be cheap and work just fine. Just get one designed for single phase input. Some are 3 phase in a variable frequency out. A rotary phase converter can be built with a 3 phase motor and a few run capacitors. It is cheap, quick, and easy if you have an old 3 phase motor laying...

    squaring heads

Do the reverse Jackie, Now if you can put the proper amount of convex back into the case head, your loose primer problem with the new softer brass will disappear. Michael

Anyone ever see these, or, similar?

No but I will dig out some bullets one of these days and post pictures. They will have some of the big names like "Pindell". Probably would have shot them, but they rattle down the bore. About .065" too small. Michael

A velocity question for you smart guys

Greg, This mainly has to do with bullet drop. A 6PPC at 100 yards will only see about .05" bullet drop if a bullet that is part of a group is running 40 fps slower. If you look at a 1000 yard rifle shooting a .700 BC bullet at 3000 fps, a bullet that is part of a group will hit about 6.5"...

A velocity question for you smart guys

I agree that small groups can be shot in short range BR with a large ES, just as long as the velocity swing isn't so wide that you get outside of your tune window. I have personally seen single digit ES with weighed charges from the 6PPC, but it is not common. I believe the 30BR would show...

    N130 and N120

Possibly Some shooters swear by N130 in the 30BR. Most consider H4198 and N130 to be the top two powders for the 30BR. Over time N130 lost popularity because it was no longer available in 8 # containers. Michael

    N130 and N120

I don't know if this is old news or not, but it looks like bugging the importers for N130 and N120 in 8 # jugs has paid off. Powder Valley does have these in stock in the 8 # jugs. Now 30BR and 30PPC shooters will have these powders to play with again. I believe some 6PPC shooters were...

Results, Louisianna State Varmint For Score Championship

Butch, If it was about the scoring question, then I did not. If it was about another Lederer 6mm x 13.5 LV barrel, then yes I did. I can only guess about 4 weeks on another barrel. I am still down to zero inventory, but about 50 barrels on order at all times. Thanks for the accuracy report...

Results, Louisianna State Varmint For Score Championship

Am I missing something? Jackie shot a 498-25X. At 200 yards he shot a 248-5X, so that means he should have shot a 250-20X at 100. I see scores all the way down to 250-19X at 100, but don't see his name. Michael

    6 mm mcr case

Steve, I have not seen it in real life. I have only seen the pictures, like the one I posted above. I do know the length is 1.6", and I do know that this length duplicates the PPC case capacity. I know this since I shortened a 6.8 SPC from 1.680" down to 1.600" and necked it down to 6mm. I...

    6 mm mcr case

Steve, I also read that Harvey also used 225 Winchester brass. While all of the cases, including the rimless Remington's are all 30-30 based, the 225 Win has the same rim diameter as a 308 or 30BR, while the rimless diameter brass is about .418" diameter. The 6.8 SPC opens up a whole new...

    6 mm mcr case

6 mcr The 6 MCR was a cartridge developed by Harvey Miller back in the 70's. The cartridge was based on a shortened and necked down 30-30 case. Harvey used this cartridge to set a new record agg. of .1629" which was the first ever sub .2" agg. back around 1980. I do not have any case...

    Coaxial Front Rest?

Weight You might even consider a custom base with Butch's top. I recently shot off of a Farley, and while I liked it pretty well, it wasn't anywhere near as heavy as my personal rest. Extra weight comes in handy if you ever plan to shoot a 30BR. Not as much of a concern for PPC only...
