    Can anyone here use Quickload??

We are doing it right. We are one of the US Army R&D facilities and our methodology is the same as the rest of industry. Some of our technicians and engineers have been doing this for over 40 years, going back to the days of copper crushers at Frankford Arsenal. None of us use strain gages for...

    Can anyone here use Quickload??

We use LabView with Kistler 6215 and 6213 piezo electric gages in both a midcase and case mouth location with a universal receiver. Using the new SIG cases we have only been able to get to around 83,000psi before we get case ruptures or other failures. I would calibrate your strain gages with a...

    Remington 513 trigger

The missing part is called the Trigger Take-up Spring, part# 824170, from Numrich. It doesn't show up in the Remington Field Service manual. Is there any flopping or other unwanted movement in your trigger? The spring is probably meant to take out movement.

    M1a Issue

After trying the above with a magazine, check the following: Gas piston must be between .4968" and .4980" in diameter. The inside must be cleaned also, use a long #14 drill bit and either a 5/16", Letter O or Letter P drill bit, depending on who manufactured the piston, all turned by hand to...

I was told that it is there to hang the receiver up during heat treating.

    Flash Ebert unfinished rifle

Make it into a .17 Hornet. Probably will just need to ream the chamber and fit the extractor.

    Cutting muzzle brake threads

I do them at work all the time. It is easier if the barrel is off. If not doing the barreled action in a lathe with a spindle bore that allows the receiver to either be at outboard end or float inside the spindle. dial the bore in the same as chambering, I use my action truing fixture on the...

    Proof Testing New Barrels

We got a reading of 90,000 but damaged the gage.

    ejector slots

When you cut, set up the woodruff cutter so that the teeth are cutting outwards away from the chamber. This will require resetting the barrel for the opposing cut if you need two slots.

    Proof Testing New Barrels

We are currently upgrading to gages rated for 100,000psi. The new .277 SIG rounds are at the max range of the older gages. I have to go back and recut the old M10x1.0 gage ports to M12x1.0

    Proof Testing New Barrels

We do, but we have actual USGI proof loads. We also have pressure test barrels and universal receivers to confirm the pressures of the loads. Dont try to create a proof load without proper test equipment to verify the load. We blew out a gage last week when the load hit 90,000psi on an...

    Rifle positioning on front rest/bag

This rifle had a stock/forearm that was not in contact with the barrel. The entire plastic receiver was flexing.

Freezing temps and primers & powder

As I work for a DOD test facility, I would think that they are following the proper procedures for storage and shipping of munitions.

    Rifle positioning on front rest/bag

When we were testing the XM8 rifle, a plastic receiver version of the H&K G96, we found that moving the rifle forend on the sandbag could produce up to a 8MOA impact change with a fully floating barrel.

Freezing temps and primers & powder

We get primers here at work in ammo cans. They are the same primers that are in loaded ammo stored in the ammo cans. We also get other munitions, rated 1.1thru 1.4 in ammo cans, like 40mm HE rounds for the MK19.

Freezing temps and primers & powder

At least put it into GI ammo cans before storing. That will help with the moisture problems. It will also keep the mice from chewing up any cardboard containers.

A WOW on chambering a barrel

I have a steady for my SB 9A lathe at home that has a cathead built into it. I got the plans for it from Speedy when he was at TSJC. At work with the bigger lathes, I can chamber in the headstock.
