When talking to guys about what we do I have a few key words that convey what's important.
    Parallel
    Perpendicular
    Concentric
    Stress free
Which means every part has it's own natural resting place. The less influence the better. I'd want to remove the guard screws and the barreled action fall out of the stock

Dave, that's my hallmark for a well done bedding job, too. If it doesn't rattle around and simply fall out when the actions screws are removed, there's still work to do.

I've seen a couple that were so tight the dial indicator wouldn't even wiggle when the screws were cracked. -Al

Al, I used to make them. Now I get 'em from my local Ace Hardware stores. If you can't find any, PM me your info and I'll drop some in the mail to you. -Al

Should finish the bedding clean up mill work today. Bedded bases to the sleeve yesterday. Bedded bases pic is pre clean up, hole radiusing, edge chamfering, etc.

    Good shootin'. -Al

Finished up the bedding part of the project. The tang area still needs work and the stock needs to be stripped, prepped and finished. Or maybe not?

The trigger pin holes needed some love. Repositioned them so the pins weren't binding, did a spot face on the stock and a back cut on the knurled thumb screws to clean it up a bit.

A blast from the Benchrest past, for sure. It has three barrels...two 222's and unique 221 1/2.

Nice little rings, aren't they? I've got a couple sets and always keep my eye out for them. On a light weight hunting rifle, they're pretty slick. Just finished lapping them....the bedding compound is setting up now. -Al
