Dave:
So sorry for the potential stupid question...........
So, do you wrap a piece of wax paper around the reamer and run it in? Is it that simple?
Doesn't the paper shred and clog the...
Richard:
I am self taught (an eternal novice!), but I run carbide at the same speeds and lubrication as HSS reamers - approx. 180rpm flushed with standard coolant.
All the best,
kev
Tony:
Not starting any new rumors here.......but I heard the 6 o'clock offset chamber is making a comeback!! Place your order today!! LOL

Jerry:
I hope you are well!
I will try to give an explanation a shot (after trying to unsuccessfully model it on several occasions) - just my opinion here:
As an oversize button swages or...
I will Mark, great to hear from you!
I hope you and yours are doing well - not sure about the upcoming baseball season (with the looming strike and all), we still need to do a Cleveland / Cubs...
Oldman (me too! LOL):
Love a discussion about Bourbon!!
This topic is going to be about as opinionated as RFBR! After a few years of searching, I found my first bottle of Buffalo Trace, and...
Hi Jim:
Just to clarify, the Cardinal Center Lapua facility is not closing. A search is under way for Luke's replacement, and it will be back in service in no time.
I wish Luke the best, he...
Thanks Tony:
And thanks for starting the thread. I have to say though, that there is something to the "old" 11 degree crown - some of the best barrels I have had have used this crown.
What...

All:
I have never been a fan of putting anything in the muzzle (even a live pilot). Some of the MI lands offer so little contact for a pilot that I am always worried about marring them....
Tony:
Okay, lets take this piece by piece (following your numbered responses above):
1. I obviously do believe there are ways to optimize a chamber for a particular brand of ammunition, which...
Tony:
Okay, here I am as requested.
I have been following this but was actually not planning to respond. There has been some intentional misinterpretation since my original post in 2011...
My apologies, this thread has kind of gone off the rails a bit.
This reply is basically at the heart of my original question.
HSS is (and has been) the material of choice for reamers, and the...
Jerry:
I order solid carbide reamers from JGS, they take a little longer to get but everything from JGS is of exceptional quality.
Thanks,
kev
All:
I was wondering if any of you had used solid carbide reamers, and if so, could share your speeds / feeds and technique?
I have been using them recently with good results - always...
Just offering an opinion.......
For many years I have used Devcon Plastic Steel (or Aluminum) - the 16 hour cure, for all of my bedding. It is an exceptional (but expensive) product. I bed with...
First of all that's some great shooting, and a pretty competitive rifle to boot (regardless of the number of lugs it has or anything else).
Please sweet baby Jesus tell me it at least had a tuner...
Thanks all - great suggestions!
I am always looking for a way to hit the "easy button"...…..nothing replaces good old elbow grease though does it!
Thanks again,
kev
Good morning all:
I had a dumb question to ask - how do you clean up your lathe and other equipment? I have tried light machine oil (like Remclean), but the years of brown cutting fluids and gunk...
Thanks Jerry:
You may be correct, that makes total sense to me.
I think any variable that alters the bullets exit position (including acceleration or velocity - or both!) would be a factor.

Good afternoon Tim:
I have been shooting a really long time, and my memory isn't what it once was. When I started I was not using a "tuner" as they currently exist, but many of us were...
It varies, the most important thing (to me, at least), is using two lots of different speeds that have performed well (they are known good performing lots to begin with). That kind of limits my...
All:
Great thread, I have learned a lot!
This is what I do (in the interest of full disclosure, I am self taught!) - I leave the carriage locked, and cut a relief at the shoulder so I can stop...
Hi all:
I hope all of you had a great Christmas, and wishing all of you a great and healthy 2021!
Regarding bedding blocks - in position shooting (specifically prone) there is a very real...
Wow - that is really interesting!
Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas!
