I only did it one time. The target board was 6 ft high and 5 ft wide. The 5 shot group was just about that big. Not my idea of fun.
Set up right I can get to 400 yds with 50 yard 0 with my unertls. This is with a Rem 40X in 22RF.
I agree with you PedroS. Shooting off a bipod is a whole different disipline than shooting off a one piece rest. A bipod you try to load the same forward pressure every time. One piece rest I let the...
I just read the SAAMI specs for 22 Match & 22 Sporting. I had never checked this before. Looks like the only difference is at the front of the case. Most match chambers will be a little shorter and...
I'm pretty sure all 40X 22 caliber rifles have match chambers. What I don't know are the dimensions or if they were ever changed. I am assuming the custom shop rifles were the same as the run of the...
I thought so too, but you can never be sure what someone will do in the search for more accuracy.
Thanks, PedroS
Am I correct in assuming that the pellet diameter is slightly smaller than the bore of the stripper? Wayne
Can anyone post a picture of an air rifle air stripper? A google search gets a few bore cleaning solvents, not what I'm looking for. Thanks for any help. Wayne
It is inletted in from the top and epoxied in.Then wood was added from the top to hide all the steel.
Yes it is all one piece. 8" long by 1.5" wide by 1.5" high. Flat on the bottom and epoxied in.
Hey Scott; What do you think of this bedding block. On a rifle that Mark Penrod built for me in 2008. I won a few matches in Lincoln with it. That was before I forgot how to shoot. The stock weighs...
Tell Dean that Wayne in Yankton SD says Happy Birthday. He came to a match in Yankton many years ago and taught us how to shoot. Thanks!
Yes they do. I bend mine enough so they don't move but stay just free of the bolt. I had one move out too far in a match and couldn't close the bolt. Lesson learned. Some of my 40Xs with ptg bolts I...
It is possible to make it feed easier. You have to modify the bolt and make a new ramp. It might be possible to just make a new ramp but you are limited to what you can do because of the bolt design....

This would be considered an unlimited class rifle and one piece rest. The rifle weighs a little over 18 lbs and the rest is 30 lbs. If I shot the matches this is...
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Wayne
I just have to ask. What rifle was he shooting? Really impressive shooting regardless of what brand. I'm too old to shoot anything but benchrest but am very impressed with what can be accomplished by...
Lapua doesn't need a bigger mailing list, they just need to manufacture more good ammo.
I don't know what the factory location is for the trigger mount pins, but if you can find it that is what I would use. That way you can use either a factory or PTG bolt. You will also be able to use...
Most of my 40Xs have PTG bolts so that is what i measured. After shortening the firing pins to the right length I had to install 30# springs to make them fire reliably. I think the standard springs...
Measuring from the cocked position to the front of the firing pin in fired position it seems to be about .175 of an inch. Not a very scientific answer but close as I can get Wayne

I don't think there is anything wrong with factory Rem 700 bolts. A friend and I had 5 of 9 PTG bolts from a later batch that came off. The solder or braze whatever it is was just plain bad. Drilled...
I'm confused because it is a .17 now. That's smaller than a .22 is it not? The chamber might be bigger but the rifling is not.
