Material behind the target?

We need to build new pellet catchers on the range. Since we don't have any real experience of air rifle benchrest yet, what material to use behind the target so we can attach them in a flat way? Or do you use special target holders?

Edit: It is not just keeping the targets flat, it is also the issue of promoting clean edges of the hits to make scoring easier.

Have you posted your questions on the Airgun Benchrest Forum too?

I forgot to mention that we use flattened cardboard boxes and it works very well for now.

On the Airgun Forum here is posted pictures of an Airgun Range in California. Among those photos are some of the pellet traps they use and I believe Joe explaind the details. Coroplast and probably cardboard are not going to stop pellets from airguns used for Benchrest. An easy stop is to use steel plate backers set at a 45*angle or so, on leggs that are the right height to keep the plates behind your targets . The pellets will strike the angled plate and drop. If leaving lead on the range is an issue, a tray or box with an inch or so of soft sand should hold the spent pellets that drop down. One of the .22 ranges I shoot at has this type of backer for some of their targets and the backers work the very best; where I got the idea from.

This is a great time to ask this question. Those "vote for me" signs are of great plenty and soon about half of them will be free for the asking. All you gotta do is volunteer to go pick them up along a particular route(s) and they will be glad to accept your offer.
