Marlin 60 MOUSE HOUSE -- Part 2 Recovery

Mouse House Marlin 60 is recovered from northern MN; initial autopsy pics and showing the unpacking of the nasty mess.

Bore looks really good despite bad exterior barrel rust and pitting. Action parts look very good too.

Major problem trying to remove jammed/rusted magazine tube and brass follower.
Will Evapo-Rust help with this?

Stock cleaned up really well and has great grain.

A video of the nasty initial unpacking will be posted later as edits take time...

Recovery updates of the MOUSE HOUSE Marlin 60 are in a new post here.

I have not worked on the video yet as the rifle repairs, which are numerous, have been taking up my time. Will make video a priority as my sore fingers need a rest.

The barrel crown is in bad shape and will need to be cut by a gunsmith.

Mouse House stock is shaping up:
Initial stock cleaning
Acetone finish removal treatment
Finished with CitriStrip
Pre-stain treatment
Stained with Early American x2 so far

Finished sanding barrel for now. All Marlin stamping completely gone as area totally corroded.
Very few microscopic pits remain. Gave it a temporary Van's Instant Gun Blue to reveal the micro pits more easily which are near the breech end. Will need to be borescoped and then if it passes muster, get it re-crowned. Learned a lot refinishing parts. Mag tube was a giant pain in the butt, extremely corroded cap end, but Mag tube blued very well with Van's. Mag should be totally functional despite some heavy cosmetic damage on the outer tube. A couple parts replaced with Numrich parts on the Mag assembly.

Pretty cool. It would be a hoot if this gun turns out fully functional and reasonably accurate. It looks like a fun project.
