Jewell/Foster adjustable scope ring adjustments

I just purchased a frozen Leupold 36 with a set of Jewell/Foster adjustable rings. I just cleaned up the rings and checked and lightly lubed all of the adjustments. I had a couple of questions for people that have used these rings:
1. Do I need to glue the two half circle rings to the scope that the rear ring adjustments ride on?
2. How tight do the adjustment screws need to be to make sure that the scope is locked in place?
Also, and tips to setting up and adjusting these rings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

I think they're hopelessly complicated and a flawed design but because I'm a nice guy...... if you can't get them figured out I'll take them off your hands.......

seriously, I've never used them. I talked with Arnold ABOUT them just after he quit making them and have never been able to find a set. I too am awaiting your answers.

Joe,

You can use a high quality thin two sided tape to attach the inserts to the scope. Normal two sided tape won't work well, especially when it's hot. The adjustment screws should be firm. When you seperate the rear with adjustments, be careful, there are several little pieces in there and be patient putting it back together. It's unlikly that a person would damage anything but if can be a little frustraiting the first time. Don't force anything.
