I was going through some pictures and came across one of Dale Rose...who had a TOP 20 finish at this year's SS. Tragically, we lost Dale in a boating accident on 9/02/12. He was liked by all who knew him. His smile will be missed greatly by those who knew him. James
I did not realize that Dale passed in September. I must have missed it . Dale was a great guy. I first met him in 1976 (yikes!) when he ran the matches at Dalton, GA. In fact, that was my FIRST match. That Dalton match is not significant for that, of course, but that Ed Watson shot a HV100 agg of .1772 which was a record that lasted for years. Dale's target crew had to change targets in a day long deluge with the rain coming straight down. It was only until the past year or so that I again saw the good Mr. Rose. I think first this year at the Shamrock and then he attended the IBS Group Nationals at Weikert this past summer. He warned me that he was headed north for the Nationals, and he did. He was one of the friendliest fellows ever on the circuit. He was known to shoot some REALLY small groups. As Jerry mentioned above, he shot very well at this year's Super Shoot.
December 23 I conversed with a Bill Miller at the Chattanooga newspaper who wrote the article about Dales accident and posted the boat picture and so far the TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency) has not released further details.
