LOOKS like it was silver soldered. Any help appreciated. Thx beforehand.

Dan Armstrong in Fairbanks,Alaska is the best in my opinion. He has done several for me and the turn around time, quality, and price are just great. Dan tig welds them and I have used him on my custom rifles along with my Remingtons.

A bit late on this, but...Roger Biesen (Al's son) is still smithing in Spokane.

I am a little confused here, if it is a Beeson Bolt it was designed and made by Jim Beeson out of Indiana. There was no extractor on a Beeson bolt and the handle was silver soldered on. As far as Dan Armstrong is concerned, never heard of him, but if Butch says he is excellent, that is good enough for me. Who Al Bieson is, again never heard of him and Roger Bieson, again. But I do not think they are connected to Jim, but I have been wrong in the past. How do I know? I shot at Etna Green for years and had about 4 or 5 Beeson bolts.

Dan Armstrong has probably tig welded more bolt handles than many many smiths combined. Dan understands bolt timing. If you can make the proper measurements that he would ask for, you would only need to send your bolt. He wouldn't need the receiver. I know several custom gunmakers that use Dan. How about getting it back 10 days after you ship it to him.

No extractor? That certainly seems odd.

No, not odd at all, you have to remember that Rem 600 & 720 actions in those days had problems with the pressures that the PPC was capable of. The action was more then strong enough but they had a bad habit of forcing brass into the hole for the extractor. So Jim would make a head that had no extractor hole. I know it's hard to believe but in those days you had to reach in and get the fired brass, :)

My mistake. Being from the area, I have heard of Al Biesen since I was a kid, and I thought that was who the OP was referring to. Al built custom bolt rifles for the likes of Jack O'Connor.
