    Panda middle action screw

Ordered a stock from McMillan for a groundhog rifle build, forgot to tell them to only drill for the front and rear one (didn't even cross my mind).

The action is going to be bed and bolted in and out of curiosity, does using the middle action screw along with the other 2 have any negative effect?

Use one of the trigger guards with only one hole and nobody will even know.

You would think Kelbly keeps making them with 3 holes for some reason.

They put the small 3rd bolt in to hold the front of the trigger guard in position. The problem is if that screw is tighter than the main screws and bedding is perhaps not perfect there can be issues .

This is ahead of that, it's a full on action screw.

I've done them both ways but prefer just using the front and rear. On one stock that had the hole for the middle screw, I made a smaller o.d. alum. pillar threaded internally for 1/4X28 and put a short Allen head cap screw into the pillar...a 'blank' pillar, if you will. Epoxied it in the stock.....looked nice. -Al

Just did a Panda in McMillian stock this week.

Front screw was made from .250 x 28 tpi cut 60 degree bevel on bottom of screw head to match metal escantlin.
    Middle screw done the same.
Front and middle screw out of black anodised screws.
Rear screw stainless steel .250 x 28 tpi, beveled on contact side and turned down on top to not interfere with middle finger.
Front trigger guard screw stainless steel #6-32 beveled bottom and flat top.
