    What Savage wrench

I need to remove a Savage barrel and was wondering what brand of wrench to get to remove the barrel nut?

Brownells has a double ended barrel nut wrench for Savage long and short actions, price $47.90

Provides the correct wrench for all styles of Savage barrel nuts. Double-end wrench helps prevent expensive damage; fits older Savage barrel nuts with round bottom notches and the new, short action guns with square bottom notches.

Sharp Shooter Supply makes that style of wrench, as well as another designed for removing the newer style smooth nuts. Price is about the same, not sure if Brownells is just reselling the ones from SSS or copying them.

I have the Sharp Shooter Supply wrench, and it has been used to remove several factory tightened nuts with no damage to the wrench. You can't even tell that it has been used, and considerable force was applied, with a hydraulic barrel vise and dead blow hammer. I have been told that some wrenches, that look identical, and sell for less money are made of softer steel that does not hold up.
