Breaking in a leather front bag.

I'm starting a new project. I have gotten a hunter class gun to play with. My other front bags have all been nylon. The one i got for the hunter gun is leather. I went leather this time on the recomendation in Ratigans book. I do have a nylon on order for the hunter in case the leather doesn't work out. But is there a way to get it to take the shape and hold it? I was thinking wet it and let the rifle set in it for a few days.

    New bag

Have used that procedure many times. Let the bag soak a good bit. Put something between your stock and the bag to protect your stock such as waxed paper or saran wrap and really get your stock positioned the way you want it to be finally formed in the rest. Let it thoroughly dry - a few days - and viola! A bag that conforms perfectly to that stock. Your bag has to be filled properly for this method to work.
