    Interesting Experience, 6mm Beggs NT

The past two days have been filled with excitement, laughter, and great fun, with kids and grandkids, but this evening this old man just had to have a bit of solitude. I told my wife I would be back soon and headed straight for the tunnel.

The drive to the tunnel was pleasant and relaxing. Tonight here in West Texas, skies are crystal clear, winds light and variable, temperature is 37 degrees; a beautiful evening. After closing the gate, I parked the pickup at the front entrance and switched off the motor. For several minutes, I sat there marveling at how quiet and peaceful it is out there at night.

My plan was to check out the new Hornady sizing die. I took a new Lapua 220 Russian case from the box and lubricated the inside of the neck with RCBS case lube and run it over the 6mm expander mandrel a couple of times. The case chambered perfectly with a slight feel on closing. A CCI BR4 primer was seated and the case loaded with 27.7 grains of N133. A Fowler 66 grain bullet was seated and the entire case lubricated with ProGold bolt grease. My plan was to load and fire this one case ten times with a full load, resizing each time with the Hornady die. I wanted to see if there would be any tightening up and clicking at the top on extraction.

The resulting ten shot group was about .100 wide and .150 vertical. I opened the bolt slowly and carefully each time and there was never a hint of click at the top. I could not be happier with the cartridge and the new Hornady die.

Gene, I was wondering if all the dies were spoken for or do you have any left. If so I would like to buy a set!
    Thanks

Gene, have you shot any H322 in the 6MM Beggs?

No, I haven't tried H322 yet, but it's interesting that you ask because I took a jug of it to the tunnel yesterday to try. I'll probably be shooting a bit tomorrow and will let you know. So far, H4198 stands out as THE powder for the 6mm Beggs using 66 to 68 grain bullets. The upper load window averages 3400 fps and puts 'em in a dot! Ask Charles Huckeba, he was there.
