    Quickload Accuracy

I've had Quickload software for many years but haven't used it as much as I should. I did a "Satterlee" load test yesterday as an experiment with my 30 BR. I fired ten 3 shot groups using H4198 going from 31.7 to 33.5 in .2 increments. I've been trying to cram as much powder as I can into the case and have been doing fairly well at 34.5. But that's starting to be a compressed load. The interesting part of the test is that the lowest load was the best. The 31.7 shot onto one clean cut hole. The three velocities from my Labradar were 2775, 2766, 2756, average of the three 2765.66. I still had Quickload up on my computer and decided to put in the 31.7 load and see what Quickload predicted. Well, it came back with a predicted muzzle velocity of 2767. Not too shabby.

With all due respect to “Quick Load”, the best way (in my opinion) to tune a 30BR is to sit down at the bench, on the clock, and shoot at a legal score target, seeing how many X’s you cut.

If the load you choose is the one you think will win, you will find out soon enough.

Jackie I shot a 250-17X last Saturday at ASC for 2nd place out of 16 shooters. The intent of my post was to say that I was gratified to see that Quickload would at least give give me fairly accurate and safe information if I wanted to consider other bullet/powder combinations to try.
