Exclamation Darn, my Neuvo Bolt Handle Broke.

I took my HV out of itís case last night, removed the bolt and the handle came off. The last time I shot it was at the Nationals.

Not a disaster, so I fixed it this morning.

Not knowing how the aluminum handle was installed into the steel extension, I put the bolt in a mill, drilled out the broke piece, then drilled and tapped it for 1/4 28.

I machined a new aluminum bolt handle, installed a grade 8 bolt in the steel extension, sawed it off, and screwed the two together.

Easy fix. Probably stronger than the original.

I would have tended towards larger thread (lower TPI) in aluminum.

Fine threads in aluminum are often not al that strong.
1/4-20 would likely have a decent amount more stregnth.

Though the loading is not tensile in this application.
