That was great, like reading stories like that and the history that go's behind them

Night Train I remember Fred Leeds bidding a bunch on this rifle ,supposely an open honest auction , but when the dust settled Fred did not get it and No one has ever seen it as Night Train! Rumor has it WLM placed it else where ,not with Fred and Changed the name ! Who got it TKH ? There has been no more auctions via Fac Machines since Night Train! It appeared Honesty & Integrity went down the drain with Night Train ! Would like to hear your version of this saga TKH? Georgia Shaker may be headed North !
I can't be much help with Night Train. Loved the name. The rumor I heard was it went for big money overseas.
Since it hasn't been seen, or heard from, maybe that is right.
If it went to Oz, or the U.K. we probably would have heard about it.
Now I can help with a more current mystery. Look at the inserts.
One of these has been retouched. The original could be had for the right price. That is if anyone is interested.

Concensus is that Taco must have put Red #4 in those Black Boxes to decoy Bad BoB ! He is a sly dude! I really do like his nail polish though ! Boy George gets his toes done like that !
There is currently a Calfee rifle for sale on Gunbroker called Duck Hawk. I don’t know if this is considered to be one of the SPEC rifles you are referring to or not
2nd In 2003 Bill made the ARA project rifle and wrote exclusively about it. Would this be considered the missing #1? I don’t know the time frame that these rifles were made
Kirk,
These rifles are not Calfee Spec rifles. Spec rifles were a very special series Bill did only for a short period of time.
Calfee spec rifles were completely built by Bill rather than a collection of parts assembled by Bill.
Every Calfee rifle is special, just not as special as the Spec series.
I see Bill has posted that he thinks the missing ARA project rifle he built may be the most valuable of all of his rifles. Of course there is no way of knowing other than seeing what it would go for at auction.
I would really like to see what Night Train would bring if it was found in original condition.

That rifle isn’t missing. I know exactly where it is
Absolutely still just as I received it. My son shot it for about a year and a half and then RF BR pretty much died around here compared to what it was.
He was 13 or so at the time and shot really well with it.
If i'm not mistaken, is that, Kirk is Left Handed and the rifle was set up for a Right Hand Shooter.
Fred,
You are absolutely right. I won the rifle at the first Nationals that Michael and I attended. I think he was 12 at the time. I won the rifle and it was a RBLP action. I shoot left handed and just could not load the Turbo from the opposite side. I was shooting a Time Precision rifle at the time that shot really well so I let my son shoot it the next year and a half. Then we pretty much stopped shooting. As I stated earlier, RF BR really fell off around here after that.
Michael did really well with that rifle, He was 13 years old and was competitive. I was very proud/happy.
I still have the rifle, there's been maybe a case of ammo through it, probably less. The barrel has never seen a brush. It really is like the day I brought it home.
I also still have the Time and a LBRP Turbo rifle as well. Michael is married now and just had a baby girl about a month ago. I've also got two daughters, one is in her last year of medical school and the youngest has about a year left in college.
I may have the time and $$ to start shooting again soon. I would like to get back into it at some point in time
Thank you everyone for the interest
Kirk

The "Duke of Earl", AKA "SPEC 6" now is owned by world class shooter Tomi Korpi.
Not often do you see a rifle like the "Duke" offered for sale. No word on the price, but whatever it was, it was worth it, just to own this icon of rimfire history.
I don't know Tomi's plans for the rifle but I really hope he decides to compete with it. Seeing it on the range again would be a treat.
