    I ask.....because I normally use "T" type...

    Butch........

Here's some more of my old posting on the small caliber board.

    A little Jerry Stiller math.....

A 0.082" firing pin probably has an 0.084" boltface hole. The hole is 0.005412 square inches. At...

    Butch,

As far as blanking is concerned.....the article points to only the boltface hole diameter, as the primary culprit. I do agree that a good f.p./hole fit is good practice.....but unrelated to...

......I posted the following on the saubier(small caliber)board.

As a reference, and a good read, refer to Precision Shooting magazine, May 2001, page 31, "The Real Reason Primers Pierce" by Jerry...

    Al.......

I've the same rifle, and set it up to shoot the 40VMax too fast, with a Leo 6.5-20xAO......at pd's. Worked pretty well!

I think I used Lapua, Sako, and Norma cases.

    My stuff is packed away...
  10. Al...........and Al.......

You guys cause me to recall old memories of my first PD trips to the Texas high plains, in the early 1990's.

  11. Al.........

Dang right it's "a bit of a pain".......and then some.......especially after shoulder surgery!!

    For PD's......ALL day long......a side-focus is worth it's weight in GOLD. :) :)

    Ok Butch.......

    ......I'll take a "shot".

The axially fixed case assumes a case body/case neck concentricity.

No allowance for case "banana" effect.

    What do I win.......or lose??

    Hey Al...........

My carbide neckturning mandrels seem to leave a very smooth "burnished" neck interior. Also, K&M offered some carbide mandrels with an integral "doughnut" cutter. They work very well for me.

    In 1962......

....I was 12 years old, and lusted for my grandfather's 22 pump.

It was a Winchester Model 61 22LR Octagon barrel.

    It'll never leave my family.
