Kev,
Always great to get your input and happy new year.
I believe you are correct. I do not think the experiment lasted too long or was particularly successful. I am not aware of any big wins...
The fart in church has struck......again.
Bob, tongue in cheek since you should know the question you asked is impossible to get any credible answer.
Guns history, proper cleaning, you have ammo, on a scale, how good, you’re ability....how...
.4125” on average
Butchy, pay attention.
Happy New Year
One of the absolute better ways to destroy the potential of a RF match chamber.
To the OP, one of the many reasons the art of a 22 chamber usually does not translate from CF.
The first rule is...
It is, although have a ratchet as well.....strictly speaking not MI.
Sorry, only shoot 50.
10X X3L in a Meredith TMBR.
Pedro, those blocks would be the traditional ones that I would assume as well but the one shown, once you wrap your head around it is very interesting.
In a modern composite stock, properly bedded,...
OK. It’s hard to tell. May I assume it is inleted/glued from the bottom? I can see here where that assist in preventing wood movement in the stock shown.
Is that actually a bedding block ?
I would almost call them kind of hybrid pillars, large but separate.
Asfar as this thread is concerned, is a bedding block one that goes entire length of the...
Well, there you go, I learned something today.....hadn’t realized they would be bedded over , can see how that could be stock specific.
The one I got by him was from a guy out your way that shot...
Scott, you have me curious. I know Penrod’s work is as good as it gets....what was the thinking on the bedding block?
How did iT perform for you?
Last, Happy new year......gotta be better than...
Unless the stock has really been hogged out you would be probably far ahead to have it bedded and pillared.
Tom has done several RF’s for me and a ton for the smith I use, including more than a few...
So....since you’re on a benchrest forum and few, if any BR builds use them, the question is what for ?
That’s , I assume, why it was locked with that screw. When you unlocked it, that was supposed to be a one time procedure, to release the scale platform.
Too big, too heavy, etc.
Also, have been told but am not absolutely sure, you do not want to have these things on their sides.....it might compromise the scale.
At these prices, I’m not taking...
Yeah, I looked at variations of that but a nice wooden clamshell type deal would be nice, right?
Some enterprising woodshop type guy can make a few bucks here, I figure.
Anybody out there that makes any type of decent carrying case for these things ?
Yes, I did see that. I guess, maybe coming is not the same as currently in use.
I guess the practical answer is that the old micro groove thinking has evolved into what we now know to be MI barrels....
Never used them but have had great hunting terminal ballistics with the Nosler ballistic tips and, in particular several variations on VMAX, including 17’s, 22’s, and in particular 20’s which will...
Don’t think anybody answered because of your term “ microgroove” barrel.
There are no microgroove BR barrels I ever heard of.
Perhaps you are referring to MI ( minimally Invasive) rifling barrels ?
A proper die that seems to do a better job, indicates off the front drive band and then end of case.
Sometimes you need to rotate case 90deg. Because of some variance in rim flatness but the front...
I suspect you might not get much feedback since the vast majority of BR shooters here or RA shoot @50 yds/mtrs and use a small dot or fine Xhair.
Seems like lots of guys on SH shoot long range 22’s...
Nobody without provision for Hazmat.
Given the shortages you may find advertising for local pickup, even using an intermediary if you wish to maintain privacy, could move them pretty quickly.
Not to step on Tony’s toes....I’m sure he will answer. IMO if you shoot quality ammo, you are not going to develop any barrel leading to speak of ,a good rimfire solvent with brush....you’re good....
