Bradley,
Just in case you haven't found out yet, Davidson makes two rear entry wrenches. One is for Stolle,Savage and Nesika. The other one is for Remington and DGA(Shilen).

My apologies to Greg. He sure as hell ought know how it's done at Kelbly's! My method works for me in my low tech shop. Thru the years I've learned to keep things as simple as I can.
Martin
This process is quite simple an I believe this is the way Kelbly does it. The panda shank is 1.115 so set your compound to 30 degrees . Touch the tool to the chamber edge and as you are feeding out...
Some time ago I took a chamber cast of mine ( SS 6ppc) and came up with a neck dia. of .272 with a throat a little longer than ideal for BR bullets.
Use a nice sharp two or four flute center cut end mill and because of the small diameter make sure you run it fast enough. Once you make your slot skin a little bit off each side by "climb milling"....
The ideal length for the 7X57 would be an action longer than a short 700 and shorter than a long 700. In other words the length of a 98 mauser.
Now that I think about it I believe I used a high speed cut off tool and made a cut just in front of the reciever.
Had one like that a while back. Put it in my lathe and cut it off!
Years ago when I was playing around with the 17 mach 1V, basically the same cartridge, 4320 seemed to be about the ideal burning rate. I never used a powder measure, I weighed each charge!
Is this a new reamer? I had a similar experience with a brand new reamer a while back. It seemed to cut ok but you had to crowd it even on a light cut and it was tight backing the reamer out. It was...
Years ago very few, if any, shooters used ejectors. Today they seem to be very popular. Would appreciate some of your opinions as to the advantages or disadvantages.
I don't remember the exact years but these rifles were made during a period of two years and part of a third year. They were built on the little L461 action with a longer bolt handle and a...
Wilbur,
I guess I must have been looking somewhere else at that moment!
Martin
Has anyone ever actually compared the performance of these two bullets once they are both tuned in a good gun?
owlshop,
For that to happen they must have been experimenting with a different lubricant or something else. A few years back I stopped in for a visit an had a chance to watch them rifle a barrel....
I still have the Unertl base seperation chart tacked to my shop wall. The separations here are for 1/4 min.
12.6"=1/7 min.,10.8"=1/6 min.,9.0"=1/5 min.,7.2"=1/4 min.,5.4"=1/3 min. I guess I can...
glp & Dan Conzo,
You may both be right! In the early 60's, as I stated earlier, I bought a used 2" target model in 15X. It was NOT an ultra vamint. I doubt anyone would buy a 2" target an change...
Iv'e noticed that since cut rifled barrels have become THE barrel of choice, most of the boys prefer a .237 over a .236. Iv'e used both but the way I shoot I'm hard pressed to tell the difference....
If my memory serves me correctly when you remove the firing pin assembly you can see ,with the help of small light, about 180 degrees of the bottom of the hole. Whether you can get something in there...
Butch,
I had it a little less than a year. At the time I knew of a couple other ones with the same problem. As I said they did fix it but I eventually sold it and got one of their newer models...
I had an early (co-ax 1) with that problem an sent it back to Farley. I thought maybe they wouldn't charge me but I was wrong although they did fix it!
I had a used 2" target in 15X I bought from Flaig's Lodge back in "62". Another eye peice was all that was needed to change power. I wanted more power so I went down to Unertl's ( East Street) and...
When did nesika switch from the rem. style bolt shroud to the more streamlined shroud? I have what I think is an earlier J action with the rem. style shroud. Serial # is J0118 above Poulsbo,WA. on...
Bob,
Heard about Taylor & Robbins in our local news the other day. As you stated, in the old days, Taylor & Robbins was where it was at! Hope to see you at Genesee when we get a good weekend.
