Shooter of the Year

The winner of this honor will be the person who earns the most points by finishing in the top ten in designated Grand Aggregates. The designated competitions will be made up of State and Regional Championship tournaments at those clubs which have scheduled such events. For those clubs which have not scheduled these events, a specific tournament will be designated for this purpose. In the case of a club which does not hold 100 + 200 yard matches (and thus no Grand Aggs), they will be able to award points for the top finishers in LV/HV and SP/UN 2-Gun Aggregate, which may be spread over a 2-tournament event.

10 points will be awarded to the first place finisher in each designated aggregate, 9 points for second, and so forth down to 1 point for the 10th place finisher. If there are fewer than 10 competitors at a designated tournament, the maximum number of points to be awarded will be the same as the number of competitors to place in the designated aggregate.

Each competitor's (up to) seven best point awards will be combined to determine the total for that competitor. That is, if a competitor finishes in the top ten in 12 of the designated aggregates, his/her highest seven results will be combined to create the total for that competitor. No more than four point awards may be earned by a shooter at any one club. If a shooter competes at one club in more than four SOY-designated tournament, the four highest point awards from that club will be used in his/her total.

The person with the highest total after the last designated match will be the 2001 NBRSA Southwest Region Shooter of the Year. In the case of a tie for first place, the tie will be broken by comparing the number of 10's that each received, then 9's, and etc, until a winner can be determined (If no way can be found to break the tie, the winner will be determined at a Tequila drinking contest to be held at a time and place to be determined by the S/W Region webmaster. The tied competitors will supply the Tequila - not the cheap stuff, either - and all S/W Region members are welcome to participate. 8^)

In order for any points to be awarded to any competitors, the match directors MUST send match results to be posted on the S/W Region web site. If results are not received within a reasonable time, we will have to move on without awarding points, so those interested should gently remind the match directors to send in the results (we have not been dealing with the web for very long and the match directors have a lot to keep them busy, so it is easy for them to forget to send us the results to be posted).

Check back often to see if any new clubs and/or dates have been added, or to see if the process has changed in any way. After the results begin to roll in, we will create a web page to post the results.
