180 shooters from across the NBRSA Eastern region, including our great friends from Canada, enjoyed calm and some rainy conditions at the Western Wayne Conservation Club Fall Classic Group Match this past weekend in Plymouth, MI. This would be our last match for the year at WWCCA. The crew at WWCCA always put on a great, well-run match. Everyone had a great time!

While Joe Krupa won the 2-Gun, rookie Eastern Region shooter’s Melvyn Newransky, Jerry and Margaret Jarrett each displayed some very impressive shooting skills with their respective aggregate wins and high aggregate finishes!

Here’s the recap from our match!

Saturday morning brought some mild, but switchy wind conditions, which the WWCCA BR range defends herself from little aggs during each match.

LV100 Agg:
1.) Melvyn Newransky: .1816”
2.) Jack Neary: .2096”
3.) Joe B. Krupa: .2150”
4.) Jerry Jarrett: .2280”
5.) Rob MacLennan: .2464”

After a great lunch, we started the HV100 afternoon aggregate. Conditions appeared to be slightly calmer, but you still had to watch for the hair-pulling results of gentle wind reverses…

2.) Joe B. Krupa: 1852”
3.) Peter Smith: .2238”
4.) Melvyn Newransky: .2308”

After the completion of shooting for the day, the WWCCA club held a Steak dinner with all the trimmings and desert for all the shooters and club members! A fine end to the day!

On to the HV200 ~ 200yd stage….

Sunday morning brought us some very hard rain before the match started. Fortunately the rain tapered to a drizzle for most of the day with very calm winds.

A very special thanks to Match Director’s, Dana Raven and Bill Gammon, Connie Wyant who did a great job of scoring all of our targets, Wayne and all the other target crew volunteers. As well as the Western Wayne Conservation Club for all their efforts hosting each of the matches they graciously held for us this past year.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next Spring!

As a reminder, please don't forget to attend the NBRSA Eastern Region annual meeting Saturday November 9th at 10AM at Cabela’s in Dundee, MI.

Warm Regards,

180 shooters! Amazing! To what do you attribute such a large turn-out?

.... poor math scores in grade school.

BTW, Humble Jack did some pretty good shooting himself. I believe that Jack is in "wind down" mode at the end of this season and was simply fooling around most of the weekend. Then on Sunday afternoon in LV 200 Jack started out with a .7XX, and then he got serious and shot four tiny groups to win the yardage.

That is the difference between guys like him and the rest of us; when he wants to turn it on, he knows how to do it.

Jack was right in that there was some pretty good shooting by some of the newer shooters who are starting to learn this game. That is what brings them (and us) back.

Looking forward to what the US Team does at the Worlds in Australia this month and the 2014 shooting season.

Joe K. Krupa

(The "K" is for Krieghoff; which most of my groups looked like that is what produced them.)

How does Joe K. do it?

In his post above one would think that Joe finished in the middle of the pack or worse. Although he seldom practices and with his busy work schedule, he often has trouble finding his best barrel. Congratulations Joe, and perhaps someday you will share your secrets with shooters like me (struggling!). James

Yeah, Joe B. or J.K. or whoever you are, what are your secrets ???

Good shooting and congrats !

P. B.

Congratulations

Nice Shooting Joe! You obviously found the load that would work in those goofy conditions, after I left. Nice way to end the season.

See you at the next DRSO meeting.
Lee:)

Congratulations Joe; it's nice to see you have a little time to shoot again. The last couple of years you've been working way too hard. You need to come out and play!

Poor Jack is the one that right now is working, working, working. He could only attend a few days at the NBRSA nationals. You're right Joe, when he wants to turn it on, look out.

I was very happy when I read this thread:
First you guys had 180 shooters, (is this real????), that's awesome for a match to pull in. What a testament to the Region.
Second the new shooters doing so well is great. I bet they went to one of Jack's free clinics, which have been helping shooters across the country!
Third, Lowell is coming back from devastating eye problems. Most folks don't know that Lowell, who is one of the best shooters ever, has had such
severe eye problems that he has gone from is normal lefty position to shooting right handed. Keep it up Lowell !!

Again, congratulations to all the winners.

Larry
