I just got hold of 2000 Winchester 53 gr match projectiles in white boxes of 100.Has anyone used them ,where they any good, does anyone know the history of them. I will probably use them up in my 22ppc.

Isn't Winchester Match an oxymoron like honest politician.
John,

Think again. Winchester used to make match bullets and ammo that were very highly regarded for quality and accuracy. They stopped making them because corporate bean counters decided that doing so "wasn't profitable".

They also had an 80 grain .243 during that era which was to date the most accurate bullet I had ever fired. They should be very special.

Winchester match bullets

If they are in the original box you may want to consider holding on to them instead of shooting them. Their worth as a collectible may be more. Don Gentner makes an excellent match bullet that will serve your purposes well and so do others. You would kick yourself in the butt if you found, five years down the road, these bullets are highly prized by collectors. Just something to consider. A buddy of mine has some of these very bullets and commented on them being very accurate. He doesn't shoot his remaining stock for the reasons just mentioned.
