Tom Libby - The Libster Gets A Hipster

Today T3 got some new hardware installed. Specifically, it is a new hip that was designed and machined by Bob Brackney. Tragically, Tom's hip has been "shifting" over the past year and needed to be "frozen". Brackney was able to adapt design elements from his successful scope program and Tom's new hip is now "locked" in place. Depending on the range, Tom will be able to use Mitutoyo micro-adjustments to fine tune his position on the bench.

The procedure was performed at Area 51 by NASA engineers. It is my understanding that Turk Takano suggested Tom use a new hip joint made by Deon Optical; however, Tom was so pleased with Brackney's recent fix on his rail that he gave the nod to Bob.

Once I have confirmation from Carolyn as to Tom's status on the launch pad; I'll pass them along.

Udate From Area 51

Just spoke with Carolyn via satelite up-link. Apparently Obama-Care has already kicked-in on the Left Coast. Tom's insurance only covered the surgery being performed by a cook from Benihana's and a biker chick as nurse. Carolyn said Tom was given a "block" instead of general anesthesia. That way they could replace Tom's hip and he could deliver a baby; all at the same time.

Carolyn said they also got Tom walking shortly after surgery to make sure the Brackney prosthesis was working. Of course, Tom was dressed in women's clothing and a electric red wig.

Lends new meaning to the old song "Big Iron On His Hip" ;) :D.

Get well soon Tom (or Carolyn might go to the matches without you this year :)).

Wonder what the medical report put for gender (??? or dunno) ?

Get well soon Tom. That big iron will put you in the hand scan line at the airport. That should be fun expecially if the security is a cute gal!!

Hip replacement.

My brother had a hip replacement several years ago and now one leg is 3/4" longer than the other. The Doctor suggested he do some walking to help heal and keep things working.............He just leaves the house and starts walking and always ends up right back at home:D
Get Well Soon.

Another Update from Area 51

This afternoon, the doctors removed the duct tape from Tom's mouth long enough for him to accept my phone call. Tom says all is well and he is getting used to the implants

His voice sounds strong (although several octaves higher) and he is doing laps of the hospital several times a day to make sure everyone is wearing their costumes. If all goes according to plan, T3 be ejected from the hospital tomorrow and begin gender change therapy.

He tells me that ever since we had dinner in Trinada, CO last year, he has had a series of unnatural tendencies. As I recall, that is the Raton match where Tom was kissing Bagget for good luck

All in all, it seems everything is going as expected.

3rd Update from Area 51

I spoke with Tom this afternoon and he is doing well. Less than a week since his surgery and he is already doing laps of the neighborhood. If he continues to progress with his recovery, Tom hopes to shoot the Visalia match in February.
