Thanks To All...........

I finally got around to uploading some pictures, and thought it might be fitting to post them today.

This is my first build for myself, it's not a Benchrest rifle but, is very competitive for our redneck shoots that we shoot here. We shoot clay pigeons at 1,000, 850, 500 yds. in kind of an Annie Oakley format, and we have a lot of fun. We also shoot a 1 shot 100 yd. closest to the bulls eye. Our shooting season starts Saturday, and we shoot all winter (weather permitting). The box in the background is another one of my hobbies. I built this one for my son to put all of his "shooting stuff in, we also shoot in a traditional muzzleloader club; patch and round ball open sights etc.

The reason I'm posting is to express thanks to Wilbur, Butch Lambert, Jackie Schmidt, Mike Bryant, Dave Tooley, Alinwa, Rustystud, Dennis Sorenson, Jerry Sharrett, Ben Hooper, Nesika Chad, Lynn, Frwilla & so many others, the list is too long. For answering my often remedial questions. I'm someone that just over a year ago had never even so much as been in the same room as a lathe, and to put together the gun of my dreams is very satisfying. Without all of the knowledge you all have shared, I never could have accomplished this. Thanks to all of you, and also to those I may have forgotten to mention.

I would like to extend a wish for a very Happy Thanksgiving to all that make this forum great.

Thanks again, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Shooting,
Med.

It shows on my computer, I re-posted it as an attachment. I'm still trying to figure this picture stuff out.

Thanks, Med.

Med, when you fire your first reload, really good feeling.
When you fill your tag on your first hunt with your reloads, even better.
But, the ultimate, as you have just found out, is when you shoot your first really good group with your reloads in a gun you built, its the ultimate, isn't it?

Good work.

Jerry,

You are so right, I own a lot of factory barreled rifles, and I've been reloading for about 20 years. A Remington 22-250 I bought a few years ago has been my best shooting rifle until now. The groups I have shot with the rifle I built completely blow the groups I've shot with that 250 out of the water. Without all the help from you and the many other great people on this forum none of this would have been possible. I'm sure I will be asking more questions as I progress, and look forward to getting the answers I need, right here on BRC.

Thanks again,
Med

Ben,

It's chambered in 6.5mm-06 .292 nk. 160 fb. from PT&G (whom I clearly forgot to include in my "Thank you" list). I've caught a lot of hell around here, most shooters in our clan opt for the 6.5mm-284, but I don't think I'm giving up too much to that cartridge. I just wanted to be different, I've won my fair share with it so far. I have a 6.5-284 Norma match reamer (also PT&G) I think I'll play with this spring. I've already got 600 rounds through the tube and it's only 26" long so I don't know what setting it back is going to do to the whole game. I'll probably set it back an inch and try it, just since I haven't set one back yet and need to learn how to do it. I really appreciate all the input you share. I'll be sure to post pictures, etc. on my next project as I hope y'all will do the same.

Happy Shooting,
Med.

Nice Effort

Fine looking Rifle, and a good shooting one as well.

6.5 06. Really nothing wrong with that, even in todays "short is better- must have "mag" in the name" world we live in.

If it shoots great, and your having fun, I can't think of topping that.......jackie

I was just reading on a different thread and realized I forgot to thank Alinwa. Sorry Al, not dis'n ya.

Yo med..... :)

I'm just happy to see another convert. (Or I should say another victim ;) you're sliding down a slippery slope...... and your toboggan's pickin' up speed!)
