Hi guys in little over a weeks time, I'm touching down in Texas for 2 week road trip.
I have got a rough plan of my route:-
AMARILLO
LUBBOCK
SAN ANGELO
BANDERA
SAN ANTONIO
CORPUS CHRISTI
HOUSTON
I would really like it if you could recommend any great gun shops along the route,I'm really on the look out to buy Edgewood bags.
I would also like it if you could recommend any ranges, restaurants, and sight worth seeing.
Thanks
Adrian
Adrian,
If you're coming to Texas you've got to visit Austin [the state's capital and Live Music Capital of the World], which is in Central Texas, about 100 miles North of San Antonio on Interstate I-35.
Unfortunately, this time of the year Texas starts getting real hot for some folks. The rest of this week in Austin, for instance, will be between 101 to 102 degrees through Saturday.
I called Edgewood, which is located 20 miles east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in Edgewood, NM and ordered a new front bag with the new 3M super slick material earlier today. Wait time is 4 weeks.
I just recalled the Rep to see if anyone sold their bags in Texas and the answer was NO.
For reference, Amarillo is 292 miles or 470 kilometers or a 5 hour drive to Edgewood, NM, one way, on I-40.
About 40 miles south of Austin, in Buda, on I-35 is Cabela's. Someone mentioned McBride's here in Austin. I've shopped there many times. However, it's a high end shop. Very nice everything ... with matching moderately high to high prices. More often I'll use Academy, Cabela's, or Walmart.
If you decide to venture this way send me a personal email and I'll see if I can play host for a day or two or even a few hours. I'm a two-time retiree so I have some free time.
The state Capital, the University of Texas, and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and IMAX Theatre which covers the history of Texas are within blocks of each other, so everything is convenient.
Regardless of whether you make it here or not, have a safe trip.
