I know this is benchrest central ( general discussion ) but forgive me for asking. I bought a mod. sw9m 3.5 in brl , 7 shot, glock looking, POS. handgun at an estate sale. cheap. I can't find anything about this firearm on smith & wesson home page or any other it dosen't exist.

Its a very early version of the S&W sigma. Its a bottom of the barrel S&W autoloader and were only sold for a couple of years and they have long since been out of production. The magazines are also different from the Sigma series as well. That's why you won't find much info on them.

thanks

I figured it was some kind of "" whoops what were we thinking"" when you can't find it in any books The 25$ I spent wasn't a big deal got a box of shells anyway thanks Andre

That's a fairly rare model and seems to be gaining collector interest. It was made in 1997 - 1998 only, and was valued in 2006 at $400. for NIB, $350. in excellent condition, and $275. in NRA VG condition. The first of them would possibly have a "BKZ" prefix to the serial number and if you have one of those it may be worth even more than above.

Doesn't seem like much, right? But Good Buy!!

good buy !

yes ken it was agood buy brand new in the box all the papers, fired once. (unfortunately I think the cause of the estate sale and low price ) I also picked up a very rare 1929 peters calendar still in the original rubber band. and he had a benjimn "franklin" 22 cal pump air rifle, with the original box of pellets minus 5 from 250 that I was realy after. all in all a good day
happy hunting, shoot strait and don't be afraid to hold off if you have to
