Jerry mentioned that he's gonna reverse the bolt stop.

Is he planning on making a sporter action? Also is this the action that had some input from Mr Calfee?

Steve, did you find out what kind of mag set-up will be
used on the repeater?
I'll bet these go like hot cakes.
I know I'm gonna jump on one of each if there is enough
to go around and I'm just a duffer not hard core like the
rest of you guys.

I'm curious as I often am, but is this action just intended to be a 40X clone or is it intended to advance things past the current level? Looking at the pictures, it looks like the locking lug raceway has been extended past the front of the loading port. That would probably mean that the action uses the big, Remington thread pattern. It would be no worse than a current 40X and would alleviate the issue of buying a 40X and truing it, but does it actually create a better level of potential accuracy? Then again, maybe it's not supposed to.

From what I understand, Jerry is looking at not only the BR group, but the position shooter as well. There are also some "tactical" type guys who would like a rimfire action that will drop into their 700 stock and have the same feel. It's these that will be repeaters.

As for better accuracy, I can't see Stiller putting out an action without carefully considering the current offerings and how to improve on them.

For those who are 40x nuts, this is gonna be the ticket.

As for the other detailed questions, I'm not sure of the answers. Give them a call. I don't want to mis-quote Jerry.

I was busy watching Jerry and Curtis field some crazy questions from the Shot Show people. They also had quite a few of their centerfire actions there, and I was getting my fingerprints all over them as well.

Surely Steve, being the rimfire aficionado you are and a writer no less, you were this close to the actions, you noticed the thread pattern. Tell us the dirty little secrets.

Ha,

I really didn't even think to look at the thread pattern. I'll call Jerry tomorrow and get the info.

But, I was ready to walk away with it. Curtis kept a close eye on me.

Those guys are great, and I really enjoyed talking with them. I have gotten to know Jerry some, but I didn't know much about Curtis until the show, and it was fun talking with him.

You can be sure that they will have a nice piece in Precision Shooting when the time comes. I'll load it with as much techno-info as I can gather.

I believe it's the same thread. Steve B., if you call him ask if he's going to offer a bushing for a 3/4" tenon.

Your right Steve,

I do hate you for that pic, unfortunately I look just like it. The action is a 40X clone with a few mods. Mostly in the firing pin design in how it stops etc. The main parts are the same. Fits into a short Rem stock. Single shot for now. Repeaters will happen, which clip etc is to be determined. Same thread as 40X. Much tighter tolerances. We cheated and cut the cocking cams into the bolt. We did it all on the 4th axis however, and it seems to work very smooth. I still need to build the extractors on this run. Should be done in few weeks. Gene Davis and Kent Owens are getting protos to test and give me feedback. I have 3 others in mind also. Dont ask, I have all I need. Production hopefully in May or June. $800 or so dealer.

This is NOT the action I started on for BR use with Calfee. That action is still on the computer waiting time to build parts. The 25X was too easy. I just changed a few routines from the centerfire body and made up a set of prints for Kiff to make the bolts to my specs. The BR action will be out someday. I know, I am always late.

Some of the Hooter's girls were giving Jerry the eye at the show. I walked over and told them that he based the size of his 406 Chey Tac action on "something."

The smile on Jerry's face is his reaction when I told him that one of the Hooter's girls, "Candy," was wondering if he was single.
