Turns out some files were missing and we don't know why :confused:

That the forums are working at the moment is good but until we determine the cause of the missing files the entire site/server is at risk.

As always, thanks a million for any amount of patience and understanding.

I was trying to log on around 3 in the morning Aussie time off my laptop because my desktop was running a full backup to a redundant internal drive after Explorer went flaky & wouldn't access the recycle bin and the external hard I backup to regularly went belly up & couldn't be accessed either to do my quick bum cover ................

Eleven hours since it started & the bugger still reckons it has 2 hours to go.

When I logged on to the forum the morning of the "intermission", I got a transient message of "hacked by....", so I'd examine your system thoroughly.

That bit of info puts it into the right box - big ugly box, but at least I know it wasn't caused by a cosmic ray.
 
Jeez...

I made the above post and here came the Syrians! Turns out it's happening all around with vBulletin forums.

We'll fight it until somebody figures out how to thwart the effort. These are indeed...exciting times!
 
Continuing...

The recent "hacks" have caused me to run in a hole of sorts. I may have to reduce some of the forum features in the short term until I find the door.
 
Unfortunately hack attempts are inherent to these forums. Mine fends off the same sort of stuff. I'm new here but am very impressed with the knowledge sharing and helpful answers. Thanks for all of your efforts.
